Name:
Briggs
Age:
35
What do you do?:
Recently retired footballer, I’m currently managing a youth club in the town I grew up in.
Hobbies and/or interests:
Football (the non-American kind), Football (the American kind), Football (the Australian kind, seriously, go watch this beautiful sport). Reading comics. Writing, mostly sport articles for some small-time online publishers.
How long have you been writing?
Just recently. I find my world travels and professional athletics career are very good jumping off point for writing, whether non-fiction or fiction.
Do you write anything non-fan fiction?
Like I said, a few non-fiction articles here-and-there, I’m very aware of most major sports.
What are your main inspirations when writing?
My life. Whether its my struggles (one of my best friends was stoned to death outside a stadium) or my happiness (my wife of 11 years and two daughters), my life is how I write.
Would you like to write for a comic company?
I can’t say no. I love almost any opportunity.
Who is your favorite comic author? Novel author?
Grant Morrison for comics, he fell off his rocker a little with his Batman work, but Invisibles is art.
Who is your favorite comic characters? Marvel? DC? Other?
DC - Superman
Marvel – The Hood
Other - Invincible
What is your favorite comic story? Marvel? DC? Other?
Marvel – Civil War
DC – Hard to tell, probably Black Mirror by Scott Snyder
Other – Invisibles, favorite EVER
What moment in comic history most influenced you/made you a comic fan?
Civil War. It’s when I found out comics aren’t just colorful gay mean fighting each other month in and month out, but it’s the story of people overcoming the circumstances of their life to do good.
Why did you choose your character(s) to write?
To fill a niche. Makes me feel needed
What character that you did not claim would you like to try your hand at most?
Superman. Mainly because he’s Superman.
