There... There was something I was going to do today. Some new Continuity topic. But I can't remember what. Major Events? Groups? *shakes head* What... was... it? I would still like to see a universal Media topic so characters in different parts of the world can still keep track of what's going on, what should be public knowledge, etc.

Yeah. I intend to do one of those. Kinda proto Official Continuity thingy. Right now since I don't know what's public for everyone else I just got
-Global Earthquake. -Sportmaster's robbery and the return of the Sentinel. -Guardian's shield is stolen. -What just happened in Machina. -***'s ***** in Arrow 2

I don't want to spoil anything, but just a note that folks might want to hold off referencing the global quakes until after issue 5/6 of Planetary hits at the end of the month/beginning of next month.
There's something that has been planned from the start but when planned was still working with idea that it took 6 to be in continuity/referenced by others like it used to be that needs to play out before those quakes are referenced.

For those of you wondering what that new board under Limited is, nothing to worry about. It's nothing major and will likely be moved to become a subboard here or in a revamped continuity once we get rid of "Last universe on..." Think of it as a placeholder since we have two two titles that are currently approaching what I deem the "reliable" number and will be able to start suitably being able to make use of continuity. Not to be used for Major Events since that has been tried and failed time and again. More on the smaller scale dealing with Universal Media, requested characters, requested references, etc... In time, it may evolve to handle mini-events. It's a very specific discussion and reference board. Hopefully it'll open some dialogue between us and people who don't normally talk to each other, from there you guys will be able to seek others out for specific spoiler related content. After more people are able to utilize it, who knows what it'll grow into?
At the moment, it's password protected. Not meaning to be mean or single out anyone. I don't want people to "get in over their heads" or something at their start interacting with everyone to the point you may have to change claims or retcon your work. That may change in the coming days as the admins discuss the board in detail.

Noticing a lot of historical characters getting claimed.
Do we need to claim characters from history/mythology if we just planned to use common knowledge to reference them?
Obviously in my case I need to claim Greek Gods and Titans if I want to use them, but could I still reference myths like, for example, the Odyssey without claiming Odysseus?
The same for historical figures. Would I need to claim someone from World War 2, for example, even if I was only planning to reference the commonly known history?

We came to a ruling on that somewhere in the October claims topic so check there. I'm working ATM so I can't give you a proper reply but the basic is something like if you don't deviate, it's safe to use. If you do, make mention of it or PM an admin to give the okay... I think. I'd say you're safe with the greek myths (unless they're DC characters in their own right) for the most part given that you do have those other claims.

More of a claim topic than a continuity topic, but as long as you're referencing common known history, there's no issue with that. As far as I'm concerned all historical figures are kind of a public domain thing as long as their public lives and their public accomplishments are intact. If that makes any sense at all.
For example, MRP will be using some historical figures as part of a secret society and while they probably didn't end up doing what he's going to have them do, their public essence will remain the same, so that's fair.
As far as myths, that's a tough one. From a small amount of research, I can't surmise that he's ever been in a DC Comic, but characters such as Circe were important to his existence. So, I'd say that he's wallpaper. But as for other myths, as long as you don't plan on re-writing the myth, I'd say they fall under public domain as well.

You could make that argument that history and myth is an aspect continuity ^_^ but yeah, it is more of a claims subject.

Just in keeping with the theme of this thread.
Central City is in Missouri
Keystone City is in Kansas
I don't know if Mez is using Smallvile for anything so I don't know if it's close to that or not unless he put that in Delaware to.

Smallville is in Kansas, right around Manhattan and Junction City.

So I've been compiling a kind of rule set for how magic works in this universe in my series. I by no means want others to feel beholden to the rules I'm establishing. There are always exceptions. But I'd be happy to make a thread in the Continuity board summarizing it all. If that's okay.

Amnesty Bay is a small town in Maine. About an hour north of Portsmouth, NH.
