Sadly I deal with college students who think all things dark walk on water and exhale gold dust. You suggest otherwise and they look at you like you have three heads cause you don't "get it". I'm not some 16 year old kid. This dark thing has been a thing for over 20 years now. I remember it when I was in junior high. It's not "new", "adult" or "fresh". It's just a thing, like all the other things. And it does not work with all things. Though it does with some. When do we move on? I don't mind batman being dark, it's his thing, but color shouldn't be a rarity in super hero stories. Okay, we're on the same page then.

For me, it's not just "dark." Though given the choice, I'd rather take something either lighthearted or inspiring, I actually do enjoy stuff like Daredevil and the first two Nolan Batman movies. I do think that there are too many movies and TV shows that use "dark and gritty" as a substitute for actual maturity and realism.
What's really frustrating for me is when people say that because I don't like dark and gritty "adult" movies like Man of Steel that means I only like "kiddy, immature" movies like Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Dark and gritty does not equal realistic or mature. There can be well-written dark and gritty, but it shouldn't be the default especially when I want to actually enjoy myself watching/playing/reading something and not be more depressed than when I started.

An interesting thought project if nothing else. Wouldn't help the tone they've struck, but it DOES look a lot nicer - call me a sap if you will, but I'd be inclined to pay money for this version.

I now think that Snyder doing a Green Lantern movie would be unintentionally hilarious.
The Gray Lantern of Willpower VS the Gray Lantern of Fear.

It's offical(ly ugly)! I'd actually be into this look if the tattoos were toned down and the forehead one was gone. But man this is just too much.

Is this supposed to be joker?
I'm calling it, 20 years from now this is the phase that DC fans will try to pretend never happened.

I'd be more inclined to dislike it if Jared Leto hadn't already managed to get me excited for his portrayal of The Joker.

I'm definitely interested in his portrayal. It's a shame they felt the need to overdo it on his appearance instead of letting his performance speak for itself.

I haven't seen anything much from Suicide Squad to have an informed opinion beyond what I see here, but God, this just looks to me like they took the Caesar Romero Joker and cut him loose at Hot Topic.

Of course, my ability to take that photo seriously was permanently ended the moment this showed up on my Twitter feed.

First off, BvS is a full year away, and the trailer's already out? Jeez louise. Age of Ultron released its teaser half a year before its release. Is DC so insecure that they need to hype us up this early?
Don't get me wrong—I loved this trailer. I'm all for this realistic tone the DCCU's going for. I loved the $#¿% out of Man of Steel because it was like an opposite Dark Knight. MoS was bleak but hopeful—DK was dark as well as bleak.
The screenplay for BvS was by the same guy who did the screenplay for Argo, so I'm confident that the writing will be good. I love Snyder's cinematography and directing style, so I know the movie will look good.
I'm still sad that the movie's title won't be Man of Steel: Battle of the Knight. To me, Batman v. Superman is kinda simple and tedious.
I'm all for this new take on Joker. Leto's gonna kill it. I'm fine with the tattoos, but I think a few should be taken out for the movie's final release.

1. I work in archaeology. I have actually put pots back together and looked at remains to see where temples and city areas used to be. I'm trained in it. I would have no IDEA where to start with Metropolis after the first film. There just isn't enough left. Cyrene or Hurculeanium would be easier and they've been ruins for centuries. Too much has been ground into fine powder. You want realistic? They get a new city, period. Between the asbestos and other fun chemicals leaking out of a century + of history in that city, the leakage from all the processing and chemical plants all major metropolis's have and the toxic aspect of unburied human and animal waste from the dead (would be in the millions) that location is now grade A unlivable. Period. Please tell me where the hope is in that.
2. You got me on Argo, I also liked Argo. And if it were wonderwoman or a Xena reboot I'd agree with you entirely. THIS IS CLARK KENT. Not Odysseus. With this writer/director I'd give me right arm - happily- to see a telling of the Illyad or the Odyssey. Can you imagination "the fall of Ishtar"? But they need to step away from Superman. Though I expect that their depiction of Diana may well be the stuff of legends. Both these men work extremely well in the realm of greek story telling. They need to stay there and take my money.
3. Jokes? I'm not sold, but I'm not walking away over him either.
I AM done with needing a prozac after paying to see a movie though. If I wanted doom and gloom (and over the top jesus metaphors) I could watch the matrix thrilogy at home for free. If I pay good hard cash I want something of worth in exchange. And an all day downer isn't of value. There is nothing wrong with super heros being super and using being super to be super awesome at saving the day. It worked for DC for 70 years and Marvel is still making BILLIONS off of it. There might be something there.

It's horrible, and trust me I'm usually one of the first to say fuck DC but I'm not sure a boycott would actually accomplish anything. But a better way to help might be to donate to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fun who are trying to stop stuff like this, because this is neither new or an only DC thing. cbldf.org/
