I've been reading a lot of the old stuff on this site and it stemmed an awesome idea that I have, but after reading through some discussion threads here and there, I'm not really sure how you all as a board would feel about it. Basically, my idea would be set in the future, but would still be a really cool story that time-traveling antics could happen. I definitely could find obscure characters to use too that way I'm not taking big name characters away from the present day. So what are the rules on that kind of thing?

In a phrase: informed consent.
Time travel can be done but read the rules closely.

Okay. Just the rules that are laid out at the end of the "Time Travel" thread that's like four pages long?

I can simplify it.
-Characters(be they past, present, future, multiverse or anything else) belong to the people who have claimed them. This does not mean that you cannot use them but it does mean you need clearance to do so. With informed consent for anything that will involve them.
-All events that will effect plans of other writers must be shared, remember they may also have plans involving future timelines. You can still have these but they must be cleared by other writers that may be effected.
Yes, this makes it less fun, but it also means it's harder to screw someone over. (Even if you totally didn't mean to, which can happen.) Just communicate with who you need to and be sure to cover bases.
