Fun Fact: In my head, I've subtitled the origin arc "Blatantly failing the Bechdel Test". I promise it gets better than that. Eventually.

Well....damn. That was really good.
At first, Carol seemed a little too obsessed with Hal, but you quickly turned that into a fairly admirable trait by showing that she was competent, heroic, and kind. The other characters were all distinct and fun. Your writing style is unique (in a good way). The pacing was nearly perfect, and the issue definitely was the perfect length. That's not to say this was a perfect issue. No first issue ever is. It's not completely clear what the overall conflict is (although I know from being told prior to reading this), and you did a little too much telling rather than showing, but this was really good.
8.5/10. I can't wait for more!

So, here's the thing. Before Guy became my favorite Lantern, my favorite was Hal Jordan. However, I never cared either way about Carol, although what I saw of her in New Guardians I didn't like. I had no real expectations for a title about "Hal Jordan's sometime-girlfriend/sometime-enemy."
Holy shit, you killed it. This was great, Carol immediately shows a lot of heart, her feelings for Hal are real, and it's obvious his influence on her lives on to this day. I'm interested in the ongoing conflict, despite not knowing what it is.
You done good.

Thanks guys!
It feels good that I was finally able to finish an issue for the site and that people seem to like it.

I thought it was very engaging, and really helped to not only establish the current status of the Lanterns and how they function, but also some pretty solid characterizations. Don't really know much about any of them - never been the biggest fan of the GLs or their expanded universe, but I'm engaged and can't wait for more.
Carol seems to be a pretty interesting character as the centerpiece of the series. You go to great lengths to establish her mindset, but it doesn't come off as pandering. I think everyone can empathize with where she is currently, and you don't really spend more time dwelling on it than is necessary to establish that. But, you show a strength within her even while she's moping. She seems to know it's bad for her, and when necessary, she's able to cast it all aside and be a hero.
The story itself has great potential too - I've never really been grabbed by the whole "light war" concept, but I think there's plenty of room here for some solid and interesting storytelling, and you've definitely piqued my interest. Rampaging constructs is something I don't recall having seen before. Can't wait to see what comes next. Keep up the great work.
And on an unrelated note, since you mentioned it above, I always found it interesting that while some of the greatest works fail the Bechdel Test, Sir Mix a Lot's Baby Got Back passes.

Oh, I'm sorry Mr. High Standards. I was unaware that the smash hit single, "Baby Got Back" by the venerable Sir Mix-a-Lot, was not a great work of art. Truly, it is a work that stands the test of time. A true classic.

And issue two is ready for your eye consumption!
Fun Fact: This is the issue where the word 'construct' lost all meaning for me. I assumed that wouldn't happen until at least #4.

As I reach the halfway point in this chapter, I've decided to go for the reviewing route I occasionally use when I'm in a rush, if only because I'm extremely sick right now. That aforementioned "reviewing route" is quite simple. I type out thoughts as I read this chapter, then provide a brief overall review at the end, then rate the chapter. Here we go.
-Right away, I'm drawn in to the story again. I love this. I love this so much, and I never expected to. Honestly, I couldn't give a rat's ass about either of the two primary Lanterns prior to this story, but you're making me love Jessica and Carol. -A little exposition heavy at the start with Jess' history -Shit. Is Jillian dead? -Really clever move to have a scene between Hal and Carol that establishes why she knows how to use a ring when she gets one. -The dick construct was hilarious. In fact, the whole scene was great. Your best Hal/Carol scene yet. -Carol's already way more inspiring than I expected after last issue -I'm really glad you went with Kilowog instead of John. Honestly, he's just more fun. -Your construct fights are incredibly creative. -Great hints about the Sinestro Corps leader -The last line is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant!
There's certainly some emotion (no pun intended) to this chapter, but it's primarily just fun, and that's perfectly fine! There's less telling than the last issue, but it still happens a bit too often. Over all, however, this was a step up from the first issue. It's about as good as a "fun issue" can get without tugging at heart strings, making me laugh out loud, or having a major plot twist, most of which don't happen in "fun issues."
9/10. Really well done. I absolutely love this title (this time pun totally intended)!

This is really a very well told series. For something completely text based, it's amazing how absolutely... visual it all is. You really are doing a great job playing around with the constructs and the battles in a really inventive manner. It's something you expect to see in the comics, but seldom get to see pulled off (and almost never this well) in a strictly text-based arena.
It's also great the way you don't shy away from the "alien" elements in the series. The reactions of them to human culture is a lot of fun.
Another great thing was the scene with Hal and Carol, showing her trying to use his ring - not only did it give a nice intro to how the rings work, and establish how Carol would know how to use one, it also shows just how tough it is for someone to just up and wield one. For some many people it seems like just any shlub can throw one on and create the fantastic, but you show how challenging it is for people who aren't prepared. It came off a lot less condescending than when Geoff Johns tried to do the same thing in the comics with Hal and Batman, so kudos to you.
Lots of great stuff here, a very strong series I can't wait to see continue. Keep up the great work.

This series is so good, it makes me mad I'm not doing Blue Lantern anymore. I had some good for that, but alas, my laptop is shit.
