On Board a Cargo Plane.....

Carter Hall has been held prisoner by H.I.V.E. The Queen now stands over him wind whipping through the open side door of the cargo plane.

"I will fire the first shot in the takeover of this world Thanagarian!" she yelled.

"You're insane. It's your planet Queen! There has to be some part of you that is human left to realize that insanity." Carter growls while he tries to work his hands free.

"No, all that's left is this hybrid! The new hybrids of my race reborn." the Queen answered.

Can't get the bonds free. Whoever tied them made sure I couldn't get free. Gotta try and think of a plan or something. I may have to tackle her out of the plane sacrifice myself.

Suddenly a small voice whispered, "Hey, don't say a word, I'm here to help."

Carter is stunned as something crawls down his shoulder to his ear . It was a human, but it was so little. Carter does his best to remain calm. The last thing he needed to do was alert the Queen. This tiny little guy could be the only way to make it out of this alive.

"I have your gear with me. Don't say a word. I'm going to undo your bonds and take out the armed guys beside you, giving you time to put your costume back on." the small voice states

With that Carter feels the bonds loosen. He sees the men have no clue as he remains cool. Suddenly the bonds drop as the figure enlarges and takes down one of the soldiers.

Carter senses he has to take the other one as he tosses him into the Queen. Knocking her off balance with one of her soldiers. This allows Carter to don the wings and helmet.

The power of the metal seemed to run through his body as the Queen tosses her poor soldier out the window to his death. She glares at what she called the Thanagarian with anger. Carter grips his mace tight.

"You will die Thanagarian!" she screams.

"Do you got this?" the man asks . Carter realizes he is Loring's boyfriend. The one who had taken him down days ago.

"Go fly the plane. I got this alien bitch." he replies.

Back at H.I.V.E HQ.

Sarge Steel and his teams leap out of the helicopter. Making Hardrow and Doctor Fox stay there as they watch him move. For a man near sixty , Steel still seems to move like he's in his twenties.

"Where are you going? Steel said we should stay here." Fox said while Hardrow checks his firearm .

"Well, I gotta see if our man is down there don't I ?" Hardrow replies

The detective ran in quick as Doctor Fox sits there alone. Knowing there was no way he was going to enter that War Zone.

Hardrow meanwhile runs in and actually shoots two of the H.I.V.E as he moves. Steel looks across the battle field this mission has became and shakes his head watching the detective work his way to another area.

"Where do you keep prisoner's of war?" Hardrow bellows as he kneecaps a H.I.V.E soldier.

"Oh god, please don't kill me, please don't!" the soldier begs.

"I'm not, I wanna know where you keep your prisoners ." he restates his request

"The building across the way. But, we don't have anyone there. The Queen took our only prisoner 30 minutes ago on the plane. Towards, St.Roche." he says in pain.

"Which way, was the plane?" Hardow asked.

Hardrow turns and jumps into an old jeep. Got to love they keep the keys in the ignition he fires it up and shoots like a bullet out of a gun skidding to a stop inches from the helicopter he yells to the doctor, "Get in Fox. We got a plane to catch."

As Fox jumps in Hardow voices rumbles over the engine.

"He's thirty minutes ahead of us going in the direction of St. Roche.

On the Plane

Carter ducks the gun blasts from the Queen as the two avoid shots from each other. His reflexes and the Queen's were an even match now. She gracefully moves with ease. Carter realizes in order to win he's going to have to cheat.

Instead of trying to hit the Queen with the mace, he kicks her between the legs. She lets loose a loud shrill cry of anger from her. Carter deflects a blast with his mace the ricochet bounces off
hitting one of the engines causing the plane to sputter and shake.

"I offer you a Kingdom to rule Thanagarian!" she shrieks.

She was barely holding onto the plane doors as Carter starts toward her. He put the mace away slowly as the Queen smiles. Then Carter answers, "I'm sorry, I'm sorta involved with someone."

With that he drop kicks her out of the plane door as she screams. He watches her fall and breathes hard for a few seconds. Even with the Queen defeated victory wasn't ensured. The plane was in really rough condition flying down an engine and there was still a bomb on board.

Carter makes his way to the cockpit seeing Loring's man trying to keep the plane in the air. The two knocked out pilots lay behind him. He was sweating worse then Carter was and all he was doing was flying the plane.

"Can you fly this plane Mr....?" Carter asks looking for his name.

"Its Ray, the engine is out. I'll have to do a forced crash landing and us leap for it." Palmer answers nervously never looking away from the controls.

"I hate to say this, but there's a bomb on board Ray. We can't do that due to the bomb. Can ya get us over the water?" he questions.

Palmer's eyes close as he shook nervously. Carter watches as the man has what seems to be a panic attack all of a sudden. "Carter gives him a word on encouragement, "Come on Ray, we got to get you back to Jean."

"Ohh ohh I don't know. I'm sweating so hard." Palmer stammered.

Cater realizes kindness won't work here. He slaps Ray across the face to get his attention. "I need your attention here. Get your head back in this! Just get us over some water and I'll handle the rest."

"I-I'm sorry. I am back now. Ok...going to try and hold us up long enough. But what about the bomb ?" he asks.

"I'll handle that. Once its off , try and do what ya can. If ya leap for it I understand." Carter answers as he walks to the back.

I know what I have to do. Its the only option left. I gotta force the bomb into the water and guide it that way. Risky as hell I know. But I knew I would risk my life with things like this eventually.


Carter undid the bomb from the hooks. Palmer yells they are over a lake as Carter grits his teeth and pushes out with the bomb. The air and force of descent make him have to hang onto the bomb for leverage .

With a push seeing the lake as it approaches, Carter manages to guide it and push off. Carter couldn't escape the blast, however, and is thrown clear of the lake; crashing through trees and finally coming to a stop on the hard ground.

Carter groggily feels pain throughout his body even with the metal protecting him. He fights to keep his eyes open for as long as he can, but the pain in his shoulder is to much he finally passes out from the pain.

Epilogue 1.

Inside the H.I.V.E camp Sarge Steel and his men round up the men and women who were part of the camp. All of them were lead away in restraints They were being lead towards a transport chopper.

"Sir! You have to come see this sir! We found something." one soldier shouts running up.

"If its the Queen's body, reports have our man Palmer kicking her out of the plane and the lab rats from S.T.A.R. are taking her for further investigation." Steel says

"No sir. Its not the Queen. You have to see this." the soldier repeats nervously.

Sarge Steel follows the young nervous soldier into the Queen's area. They opened a passage down into a deeper bunker and they stop. Steel is stunned by what he sees.

There was a group of eggs or cocoons all in a row. The Queen had clearly laid a batch of her eggs. Sarge Steel bites his cigar harder as he stared. Things just got way more complicated.

"Get the Star Labs people down here. Seal this room. No one goes in or out. God help us if one of these creatures are female." he barks walking up.

Epilogue 2.

It was days later as Carter Hall had a shoulder brace on. He walks into Doctor Fox's office as the older man sits and writes. He was happy to see his superhero patient up and walking.

"So hows the shoulder?" Fox asks.

"I'll be in this brace a few days while my body heals. Other than the usual scratches , bruises and all ...pretty good Doctor Fox." Carter answers standing there.

"Well I was worried til you called a few hours later and said you needed a ride back." he starts to laugh , "But someone wanted to say hello..."

With that said Fox laid down the telephone . Carter watched as Ray jumped through the phone. This sudden appearance and enlarging from the phone surprises Carter .

"Hey, I just wanted to say, I'm sorry for what happened at the camp. I didn't wanna blow me and Jean's cover and you...well ....you were a big guy with a hawk helmet and wings." Palmer says.

"No hard feelings Ray. Jean explained it. I just wish your group had moved faster before a few thousand people died." he replies solemnly

"Yeah I know, but we had to get as much information as possible we weren't sure how much the Queen's influence had spread. Look maybe this could be the first of many teamups ya know. The Atom and Hawkman!" Ray says with a smile.

"Yeah ,because this one worked so well with us nearly dying." Carter jokes.

A few seconds pass as they share a small laugh over that near death experience . Then, Ray tells him, "I'm working for Checkmate now. If you ever want to join the public arena of super hero fighters I'll give you a glowing recommendation."

"I think I'll keep at it without the Government backing for awhile." Carter replies.

"Well alright just keep it in mind, Carter." With that this new hero disappears into the phone line. Leaving the Doctor and Carter to stare at amazement at that.

Epilogue 3.

At the St. Roche Museum Sheira Saunders sit behind the desk. She had for days basically taken over Carter Hall's role of running the museum pretty well. In fact beyond her missing him there , she really liked being the boss.

A group of people rushed by and people were getting louder. She heard her father say excitedly that Carter had just walked back in.

Sheira slowly walked out and there he was standing in a shoulder brace. It stunned her how he didn't seem to mind the brace and was busy joking around.

"What happened to you Carter?" she asks arms crossed.

"Well I was at home and got the call on some Picard paintings in Lisbon. So I flew there; I was mugged after I got off the plane and lost my wallet and ID. Without luck and Doctor Fox, I wouldn't have made it back." he said .

"You should have at least left word with us. We all were worried about you. Thinking you were in one of those attacks days ago." Sheira says sternly.

"I am sorry Sheira . It was a spur of the moment trip and I know I messed up and put the Museum in a bad place." he answers

"Damn right you did! I had to handle your work." she sternly yells.

"I heard you did great at it. That's why on the ride home I realized Shiera...you deserve to be curator of the museum. Me ...I just have the stories to tell people who come and I find things. Its why I have resigned as curator and recommended for you to take over my job." he said.

"What?" she and her dad exclaim at the same time.

Final Epilogue : Thanagar...thousands of light years away.


Deep space , thousands of light years away sits the planet Thanagar. The planet is part technological marvel , part agricultural society . On a closer inspection you could see the slave class building and maintaining things outside.

In one of the temples sit the High Pharaoh Ramah V. On his throne he sits. Wearing his hawk helmet encrusted in diamonds and rubies for eyes. The near naked slave women bow as the door chimes.

"Come ...enter ." he commands in a rough voice.

"Great Pharaoh Ramah. I bring word of a far settlement galaxies away. One our great forefathers laid our nest at." the man says bowing.

"What of this settlement?" the Pharaoh questions

"We have received a signal of the sacred Nth Metal. It is clear our children of the Thanagar empire are there." he answers.

"Summon me....GOLDEN EAGLE." the Pharoah commands as he struck the ground with his staff.
