"Girls Gone Wild"
TJK
Nearly eighteen hundred years ago, a rebellious young group of female warriors left their home in the Mediterranean Ocean and made a long trek across the Atlantic Ocean looking for a new place to call their own. The group found their way into what is now The Gulf Of Mexico and to Cuetlaxtlan, a city in the Aztec Empire. There, the woman intermingled with the populace, merging with the natives, and adopting their lifestyle and merging it with their own, creating their own culture and melding into their society separate from the other members of the civilization.
Warriors by trade, the city became a power of their own, vicious to their enemies, forging a small but powerful and prosperous empire. When the Spaniards first attempted to enter the city in their reign of plunder, they met heavy resistance and were actually defeated and pushed back, and for years worked their way around Cuetlaxtlan, letting that area remain a bastion of native power as they killed and destroyed many of the other Aztecs.
The first great strike against Cuetlaxtlan was not struck by guns and swords, but by disease. Survivors from other cities came to Cuetlaxtlan seeking refuge, and brought with them typhus. The disease ravaged much of the population. Weak and wounded, the Spaniards finally saw their opportunity and moved. With overwhelming, well-armed attackers moving in, the warrior women, unravaged by the disease, made the decision to leave the city and escape into the jungles to the south.
There, in the jungles of southern Mexico, over the next several hundred years, the warrior women take a much more savage turn. Many descend into madness and evil, becoming the stuff of nightmares and scary stories to the growing civilization to the north of them. Tales of cannibalism and kidnappings become common. On multiple occasions parties of explorers into the region are later returned to outlying civilizations, many times just their heads remaining. Eventually a section of the region in southern Oaxaca becomes infamous as an area where no sensible person would ever tread, as no person who ever entered there would ever be seen again alive.

"This isn't going to be easy," declared Manchester Black, to the rest of his team, "according to what Antiphon knows, which regretfully isn't much, these female warriors are at home in the jungle. They have been here long enough to be comfortable with it, so they know the terrain. We don't. Deathwing and I have some jungle combat experience, and I am sure Triumph has spent some time in the jungle..."
Triumph, hovering in the air above the other five members of the team nodded, "I have indeed spent time in battle in jungles, both here and on other worlds..."
Manchester continued, "Good. Now Breathtaker , Antiphon, and Key. on the other hand..."
Antiphon scoffed, as he was was already brushing away mud from his black shoes, "Just because i have been stuck here doesn't mean I have headed out into this stuff when I didn't have to. I prefer my wars in more...urban areas...."
Breathtaker nodded in agreement, as she looked around the dead men for attire more appropriate than the skimpy outfit she wore, "Yeah, I am use to doing my thing in the streets and concrete jungle, I don't know much bought trees and dirt, and fighting in them."
The Key said nothing, but just continued to dig out some dirt from beneath his nails with a knife, as he propped himself up against a nearby tree.
"What I figured," said Manchester, formulating a plan in his head. Several minutes later, "Alright. Deathwing, I want you scouting ahead, move outside the path to the temple, keep to the shadows and keep an eye out for our adversaries. Triumph, I want you doing the same, but from the skies. I will lead the rest of us. We will head stright up the path, and keep a look out for traps and our enemies?"
"Traps?" asked Breathtaker, curious.
Manchester pulled one of his trademark smokes from inside his duster pocket and a lighter, "Yeah, our little man-eating vixens are notorious for setting up old-school jungle traps used to immobilize and ensnare their enemies, so they can come later, pick them up, and have a little snack."
"Charming." mumbled The Key from his spot against the tree.
"Yeah, so everybody needs to keep their eyes wide open. My ability to displace the light spectrum around us comes in handy when being attacked by people, but doesn't do you much good if your trip a tree-spike trap or fall into a pit..."
