#3 is up!
This issue marks Kyle's first fight and the introduction of the mysterious trainer. Next issue we'll get some backstory and begin to see where this is all leading. Let me know what you think.

Solid issue and an entertaining read. I am intrigued by the plot and where the story is going, even if I am not overly fond of Kyle as a character. I do like the interactions you have included, it's very good character work, I am just biased against Kyle as I have indicated before.

You need to get over your bias. If you're gonna hate my Kyle, hate him for how I write him, not how DC did. Updated the Supporting Cast section of my Secret Files. Spoiler Alert for the latest issue. No origin blurb yet as it's still to be revealed.

Yeah, I can't see why you'd dislike Kyle to be honest. I haven't read much GL (Rebirth, SC and Blackest Night) so that might be why I don't have bias against him. I liked Sentinal's use of the ring contrasting Kyle barely being able to make anything.

My dislike of Kyle goes back to his very first appearance. I didn't like the character when he was introduced by Ron Marz. I didn't like his origin, didn't like his costume, didn't like his personality, didn't like how he interacted with other heroes of the DCU, didn't like his presence in JLA by Morrison, etc. To me it felt like DC was just trying to shoehorn him into the DCU (the same way they did with Jason Todd-go figure) and it just didn't fit. Kyle Rayner was a bitter pill and I didn't want to swallow it. On top of that there was a feeling of "you ruined Hal Jordan for this schmuck? Why the fuck would you do that? He's not even a character that is interesting enough to carry his own title let alone that mantle of GL. If you wanted a successor to Hal, you had John Stewart or even Guy Gardner already in place, why not use good characters you had instead of creating a lameass Peter Parker wannabe to be GL? And that's how they tried to sell him in interviews and such. We wanted a young fresh take adjusting to the powers and living a soap opera much in the vein of the classic Peter Parker trope. Well Kyle Rayner is no Peter Parker, and wasn't a compelling or worthy successor to the GL mantle. I stopped reading GL after about 6 months of Kyle, having tried it and hated it. After Marz left, I gave it another try only to find it had gotten worse. So, Rayner is just not a character I want to read about. Never has been. As a support character in the GL Corps, I can sort of deal with him because well, there are lots of lame GLs out there that fill the fodder role, but as the protagonist carrying a series, nah, I usually pass.
Now I am reading Star's series because it is well written, because I really enjoyed his Superman, and because I want to support titles on the site. I do this despite my dislike of Kyle. Getting me to like Kyle is a bit of a lost cause, but I have enjoyed the series so far despite Kyle's presence. If that's not enough for y'all, well I don't know what to tell you.

Heh, I was mostly replying to liquidsword saying he didn't understand why I didn't like Kyle. He hasn't been horrible in the Johns era, but he wasn't the focus of the series either. If that was your only exposure to him, maybe I can understand not disliking him, but my experiences go way back.
I tease wachter all the time about Jason Todd and my dislike for the character. This is kind of in that spirit. It's lighthearted bashing rather than actual vehemence or dislike. I do honestly dislike the character, but I'm trying to not let it affect my attitude towards the series.

Just gonna make a note not to let you write Kyle in any crossovers.

Eh, I try not to break anyone else's toys when I play with them (but I did once leave all of a kid's G.I. Joe's (the 12 inch tall ones not the little action figures) wearing his sister's Barbie outfits because he broke my Mego Hulk's leg). So Kyle would be sort of safe with me...

Oh lord, we're one cross over and alternate universe away from Kylie Rayner.

Update the Secret Files with descriptions of each colors abilities. Many overlap, but there are differences. It's mostly there as a tool for others who are or will some day writing the Lanterns.
The list is by no means set in stone. Powers may be added as time goes on. If you're writing a Lantern and wish to add something, we can always discuss it as well.

First off... Issue 3 is the first issue in a long time that had me bust out laughing when I read a paragraph. Jade's mention was just priceless after what Miller has been doing with her.
I can't say much that hasn't already been said so I'll go with... Your writing has approved quite a lot since your work on Superman. I'd almost think it would be two different writers if I went into this blind. Fantastic job.
