C-Miller and I have finished the first issue for the most part. I need to give it a final pass for proofreading and such and it will be posted. Look for it in the next day or two.
We look forward to your reactions and comments.

It's the summer of 1975 and people are disappearing all over Coast City, but the powers that be don't seem to be doing anything about it. Lee Travis, an investigative journalist, and Jack Ryder, a crusading DJ, are just two of the people who want to know why and who's behind it all. So who is behind it all and what is so important that they have both the Royal Flush Gang and the Injustice Gang guarding their secrets? Crimson Avenger, Creeper, Black Lightning, Vixen, Judomaster, Gypsy, Joanie Thunder,-The Ultimate Outsiders. Check it out as this mystery unfolds to a Parliament Funkadelic soundtrack in the Bronze Age of the Ultimate DCU beginning in Ultimate Outsiders #1 by C_Miller & MRP, coming this April.

You are really showing your age with how you write Jack. It sounds extremely authentic.. I'm not sure if that should be taken as a compliment. Either way, I loved it. Parts of it seemed to be a bit heavy on the era but from a story-telling perspective, I know that's to ingrain it in our heads that this is the 70s. A good showing on that too.
Personally, I'm happy someone else is using the Royal Flush Gang. I originally built them up this way as a substitute for the League of Assassins (plus the DCAU gave them a special place in my heart) but nothing is wrong with them still being old with their factions and whatnot considering their differing purposes with Ra's.
Nice to see that Miller is finally able to do his alien story he's wanted to tell for months though I'll wait another couple of issues before believing that they are truly involved.
On the down side... Only issue that glared at me off the page was you couldn't keep track of your tenses in some places. Might have been the fact you both write in different styles and during edits back and forth, you missed it or it could be that it was just plain missed. All in all, that's the only bit that made me stop and grimace.

I was a kid in the 70's (born in '69) so I was 6 when this story was set. Most of the people I encountered at that time were nothing like Jack Ryder. However, several people I encountered in media were.
There are a lot of easter eggs of sorts throughout the issue. There is one X-Files nod in there I am not sure anyone but Miller will get, and every song chosen for KPOW had a purpose.
I'll have to go back and check the tenses, I usually look for that but I may have been a bit distracted while editing today, if so it's all on me as Miller is on a bus to Albany continuing his E Street epiphany today.

I love the radio bits at the start of each "segment". It sets the scene really well, for example even if you didn't say that the opening segment was at night (Not sure if you did in fact), it had that late night radio feeling to it which really set the seen and seemed authentic (Note seemed as I wasn't exactly around to know). Loved how all the characters were introduced, the plot was outlined and the next issue was set-up smoothly.

I really liked the team and characters for this. Seeing Travis involved and then Jack Ryder as well. It was a nice touch to slowly bring him in using the radio spots. I was surprised at seeing Pierce as a preacher in this one.

I don't like the 70s as an era and that fact caused me to enjoy this issue less for all its 70s flare. It was a well done issue otherwise. Keep em coming.

Preferred the first issue to the second, not too sure why though. It wasn't bad or anything, but I preferred issue 1.

I love the way the story is coming together. The way you are slowly pushing everyone together is by far the best team building tool to use for this type of story. Can't wait for the next issue.

I love the cast for the book! Definitely a comedic vibe and I'm... digging the way you write some of the period dialogue. I'm pretty sure I'm really gonna enjoy your Creeper and can't wait to see more.

Ultimate Outsiders #3: Lost & Found Part 3: Things That Go Bump In the Night is up. In hammering out the final plots for the arc, we decided we were going to need an extra issue for this arc (5 rather than the planned 4), so this issue only features half the cast. The rest will be back next issue, so they haven't been forgotten.
As always, we look forward to your comments and reactions. -M

This issue was the weakest of the first three still not bad though. Really enjoying The DEO stuff.

The series reminds me of 52, with there being various stories which (I assume) will all eventually come together to one big conclusion. Good stuff so far.

Alrighty, Ultimate Outsiders #4-Lost & Found Part 4: In Search Of... is up. It is the penultimate chapter of the first arc and focuses on Mari, Jeff, and Joanie for the most part, though we get a glimpse of the Creeper and the first hints at his origin. We also see another debut in this issue, and get a few more glimpses of the bigger picture. Miller and I plotted 4 and 5 the same night, and I scripted both in one sitting, so 5 is done except for editing as well, but y'all have to wait until the third week of August to get your peepers on that one...
As always, we look forward to your comments be they complaints or compliments, await your responses.

So I'm caught up with Outsiders given it's connections to Young Justice....
Gotta disagree with Buck here. I loved Issue 3 and thought it was brilliant. Just enough action interlaced with dialogue to hold my attention. Each scene built something and I got chills when the Crimson Avenger got his guns.
On the other hand, I hated 4. Way too much dialogue. Nothing happening. Not enough shown or said for me to know what is going on. And finally, the most important bit... I'm not the least bit interested in Joanie, Jefferson, and Mari's subplot and I'm hating them as characters. It might be their dialogue and how it seems every other word out of their mouth is "sweetie, honey, baby, etc..." I don't know. I'm just not feeling them at all. Had that same reaction to the cameo in YJ 0 too.

Just popping in to post the issue I had done except for final edits before I went on break. Ultimate Outsiders #5 is up, concluding the first arc. Hope you all enjoy, see you all on the other side after break...
