Saw it this morning and I've got to say out of all the Marvel movies setting up the Avengers, this was my absolute favorite.
Evans was great as Cap. From the skinny kid to slingin' the sheild, he was Steve Rogers. Hugo Weaving was good as the Red Skull, I thought he was scarier with his normal face as opposed to the Red Skull, but still overall a good villain. Hayley Atwell is my new crush, if I woke up to that every morning, I wouldn't leave the house. Especially when she was in that red dress. I believed the tension between her and Steve way more then I believed Jane Foster and Thor. Jane just seemed like she wanted to play with "Thor's hammer", where you could see the seeds building with Peggy and Steve from the start.
It did tie into the other movies very well, you can see how Iron Man is connected, you can see how Thor is connected..Not much love for the Hulk, but whatever. I did kind of think it ended in an odd spot. But I take that as that scene was suppose to be post credits.
Overall I'm more hyped for Cap 2, just curious to see what kind of story they'd tell...Winter Solider perhaps?

My biggest disappointment was the lack of love for the Howling Commandos. They didn't mention a name for any of them in the whole entire movie.
Chris Evans was Steve Rogers. Peggy Atwell turned in a terrific performance. Hugo Weaving was as menacing as he's ever been. Stanley Tucci and Tommy Lee Jones were scene stealers.

Agreed about the Howling Commandos...The only one I actually know was Dum Dum Dugan. So it would have been nice to have seen a little something extra with them.

I need to see this. I may have to wait until it's at the dollar theater, but I will try to see it soon. I just need to find someone to go with. I have no problem seeing movies alone, but the typical big blockbuster is not one of those.

I went by myself, I didn't care and that place was packed top to bottom and this was a 1pm showing. It made $25 million yesterday and beat out Harry Potter for the day, which dropped like 84% from last Friday.

I did not expect it to beat Harry Potter and thought releasing it this weekend was suicide.

It ended up in first for the weekend, which is a good sign. I'm curious to see how well it does next weekend, since most comic movies take a dive the following weekend.
I'd maybe throw out the suggestion of opening up the Marvel site fairly soon, with everything on a Marvel high after this and the Avengers trailer. I'm not saying everyone here should join, but for those that are interested. There were also plenty of people that were interested on the Gamefaqs board when we first mentioned UDC. Find a couple of people interested in being admin's for the site and get some things rolling while people are hyped for it, but that's just my 2 cents.

Okay. That is easily the best Marvel Movieverse movie yet (I feel I can make that call despite not having seen Thor).
After reading a few light spoilers, I thought people were complaining about a lack of the Howling Commandos and went in expecting them not to really do anything but in someplaces they stole the show. Even though Dum Dum Dugan was the only one I recognized. Disappointed Fury wasn't there at all. Maybe he takes it over after Cap.
I loved how for a period piece, the humor still fit, and almost wish it would have turned into a saga of Cap during WWII. Those brief flashes of him attacking Hydra were epic. And when he came back leading the column it was... "This is Captain America. Chris Evans is Cap... Can't wait for him to go against RDJ."
Also, I'm not ashamed to admit it, I got teary eyed at the end. And if you didn't, then I'm calling you a liar.
My one problem? Too many super jumps.
PS Ryan, I agree with ya somewhat but it could also lead to a quick falling off of members. I do want to say whenever do Ultimate Marvel and you still want to do Ultimate 2.0 Cap in the past, there's something I'd ask of ya.

I did get a something happening on my insides at the end. I kept it bottled up though, haha.
Yeah agreed. We've had that happen before with the old sites, people join and disappear...But if ya throw cupcakes at a wall a few are bound to stick, haha.
And what would you ask of me?

I saw the movie yesterday and I was surprised. I actually enjoyed the movie. It's probably the best movie Marvel's made in a while. I was very pleased that Cap acted like a soldier and used firearms instead of relying entirely on his shield.
Red Skull felt very one-dimensional to me, but overall it was a hell of a lot better than the other comic book movies released this year.
Chris Evans makes a much better Captain America than he does a Johnny Storm. A competent script and director help also.

Yeah. I was pleasantly surprised they showed Cap killing. Especially at the end of the movie with the ways he did it. He just goes off on Hydra. Hell, any time it's Solo-Cap, they had Captain America kicking 10x as much ass as normal.

Thinking back on the movie, I didn't care for the laser weapons in the midst of a WWII setting. It was probably the thing I disliked most about the movie, but even that's really nitpicking. My suspension of disbelief just couldn't fathom laser guns during the 1940s even if it was a comic book movie.
That said, it was damned awesome to see Cap kicking so much Hydra ass. I really liked the way he fought hand-to-hand with his shield when he wasn't using firearms. It was also nice to see how lethal his shield really is when it crushes a Hydra soldier's throat.

Did anyone catch the Hydra laser guns made the same noise as Iron Man's repulsor rays?

Didn't catch that. Did catch that the tech Zola and Skull built and then Howard got ahold of reminded me of the arc reactor.

Yeah I'm curious to see if any of that will be explored in Iron Man's next movie. Unless they mention it in Avengers, but I think they already have enough stuff to explain in that movie.
