Hey guys, so I'm from our friends over at All Star Marvel, and I took a looksie over here and decided that I should totally join up and look into claiming something.
Here's the thing though, I'm not really a DC guy. I'm a Marvel (and some creator owned stuff) kinda guy. My favorite character is Green Arrow, but adrini seems to be writing that (I'll check it out later, I promise). After that, it's Nightwing, but I don't want to step on Jordan's toes when it comes to Dick. I also like Green Lantern, but I have no idea about to write about for that (unless it involves Alan Scott, I had an idea for him).
That's pretty much it. Would I be allowed to write a Nightwing series? An Alan Scott series? Does every title have to use the word 'Ultimate'? Can I use 'Astonishing' or 'All-New'?

Or if it's Alan Scott, All-American...
Just as a side comment, I used to be a solely Marvel guy, but I found my particular interests came from conceptually driven stories rather than character driven stories. I found that DC was a lot more conceptually driven, but also had a lot of character development to it. If you're a fan of Green Lantern, you should check out the series that is already on the site - I believe that Alan has already appeared in it.
I think Jordan's use of Nightwing is very different to the Dick Grayson we're used to. It may be worth either rocking your way through the claims list to see who is already claimed/has already appeared in continuity and working from there. I personally, would love to see an Aztec series.
But that's me.
I think as this is an Ultimate board, everything is Ultimate...just for..clarification?

There are a bunch of people not done yet. I'm looking at doing Dr. Fate/Zatanna once birds are done. Flash is open. Firestorm. The atom. Hawk man and Hawkgirl. Booster gold. Shazam. Adam Strange. Spectre (I'd love to see that!), plastic man, Martian manhunter, and that's just a quick glacé through our DC encyclopedia. And by all means, read my arrow. I like other fans looking over it,

To answer the title question, you can call your series whatever you like. Your board where you will post your title will likely be called "Ultimate such and such" mostly for consistency.
As Adrini mentioned, there are still a lot of big names up for grabs. But as a side note, because you're writing your own version of a character, you don't have to know everything about their role in the canon comics. Feel free to take a DC character and put your own original spin on it.
Jordan has mentioned he's looking for guest writers for his "Gotham Wars" storyline, so you might have a chance to write some Nightwing depending on what he says.
Alan Scott is currently claimed by C Miller for Ultimate Starman.

My Nightwing is definitely different than what you're used to, but I think it could lead to some very good stories in a solo title. PM me and I'll give you all the information you need to know if you're really interested in a Nightwing comic.
