Alright, I'm creating this for two reasons. The first is that I want to start a little more discussion around the board, starting with what additional works have you been involved with? Got anything up on Fanfiction.net? Got anything published? I'll get to my stuff later today (hopefully).
The second reason I'm creating this is to ask if anyone's willing to beta the first issue in a Flash fanfic? It's essentially just a retelling of his origins, taking inspiration from every incarnation of the Flash. The only reason I'm not posting it here is because the basis for it--that the world has never encountered superpowered beings--is far from the world UDC has established. If it's a hit, I might edit it and put it up here, if only because we really need Flash to be in continuity.

I'm not looking for just one, so please if anyone else wants to, don't hesitate to volunteer.
Thanks, adrini!

Alright, I've written fanfiction for nearly 6 years now. More than anything else, it's what has shaped me as a writer and improved both my storytelling skills and grammar. I began at the age of 13 with some anime fics. They were usually prequels or sequels to my favorite stories (Shaman King, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) and really helped my sense of story structure. A couple years later, when I got back into comics I began working on the Infinite Marvel and DC Universes....alone. As you can imagine, it was tough. In 2 years I think I managed to write an average of 2 issues per story, with the exception of my Spider-Man and Wolverine fics. Those also happened to be my most popular stories. www.fanfiction.net/u/3470026/InfiniteUniverse10Most of what I wrote was crap, but I'm still proud of the aforementioned Spidey and Wolverine fics, especially for when. Actually, I also really liked where I was headed with my Superman story, but the first few issues weren't good. That brings me to my next story: Infinite Supergirl Year One. It's actually not mine, but was published on my page and tied into my IDC Universe. Kryptokin (someone who actually stopped by this site for a while) wrote one helluva story. She just recently finished it up actually. You all should definitely check it out! Lastly, I've written a couple short screenplays, one of which has been made into a short film. Those I won't be publishing on this site, BUT I will upload a series of screenplays I'm hard at work on when I'm finished with them. The storyline is planned in 4 parts (or episodes), each one examining, critiquing and modernising a superhero comic archetype, beginning with the sidekick, then onto the reporter girlfriend, the villain, and finally more generally what it means to be "super." The answer isn't as cheesy as you may think.

Oh, fun fact! I brought both ReadingTrance and comixmaster to All Star Marvel through fanfiction.net. I met both because of two separate Spider-Man stories (Trance my Infinite Spidey story; he wrote Blade for the universe, and comix through my ff.net publishing of my most recent Amazing Spider-Man run).

I've dabbled in fanfiction and online roleplaying games over the years. Before I came to UDC, my biggest project was a One Piece fanfic, original crew and everything, called the Shipwreck Pirates: www.fanfiction.net/s/5803975/1/The-Shipwreck-Pirates-Jaggerjaw-IslandOnly the first arc, about twenty-sum chapters and about 90,000 words, is done, though I could probably stand to go back and clean up some of the typos. Someday I plan to go back and work on it again. I had a good ten arcs in mind.

I've been thinking about writing Community fanfic for a bit now, mostly romantic in nature. I'll share here if I actually do it, but the characters of Community are some of my favorite fictional characters ever, and I'm worried I won't do them justice.

Does academic work count?
I've been offered a chance to write a paper to present in the fall, which is cool. The program I'm applying for also requires more of the same - which will be amazing for me. I'm considering a book, non-fiction, but I'm really excited about it. I think it would be super fun.
As for fiction, honestly, this place it is. As much as it's the thing now I'm totally burnt out on ships, drama, triangles - you get the idea. Just seems to cause more grief then it's worth. And the shippers are ruining everything for me these days. I've learned to just avoid things from the get go to avoid the pain. Nothing is safe.
But academically , all good. Exciting even. I'm growing up, comics used to be king, now academia is. Less BS to deal with.

Shippers are killing me too, but for different reasons I imagine. I won't get into it here, but I've grown to dislike most of Tumblr. It's sad because otherwise the site really would be made for me.
Please note, my use of MJ referencing Tumblr and shipping is a far cry from disliking her. She's one of my favorite comic characters EVER. That was merely me dating her as a modern teenaged girl, albeit a fairly (not extremely) nerdy one.

As DOB put very well there is "to ship" and "to be a shipper".
"To ship" is simply to prefer a pairing. We all do it. It's healthy. It's normal. It's fine. People have done it from the dawn of story telling and will do it till we destroy ourselves and the apes take over the world again and likely do a better job anyway.
"To be a shipper" is to spam a show's writers till you get a character killed off (Sleepy Hollow), or photoshop the face of a character over the face of the actual spouse of another character(Felicity), or continually demand a show be made for you and you alone at any cost, even if there's a stated history or wider following(Gotham and Arrow). It's when pages are hacked just so a pairing can be stated as "official" when it's not the case (Arrow again, I'm afraid, they actually enlisted anonymous). All things that have actually happened. We joke, but fans (with WAY too much time on their hands) have actually been charged with crimes over this. Real charges.
The line for me was recently, when I was trying to just get an update on Laurel (a crime, apparently), but after asking it was made clear that it was taboo to admit that she exists. I needed to be "convinced" to forget her - which is done by means of had to be at least 30 Olicity memes.
I wasn't trying to press anything, or ship ANYONE. I just wanted an update. There is no excuse for stuff like that.
The same day I was offered my first academic presentation. I took it as a sign.

Three years ago around this time, I wrote a New Avengers fic. It was a basic retelling of how they got together. If I remember correctly, I think the heroes I chose were Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Thing, and Hawkeye. Ms. Marvel was the fearless team leader, Spidey was the second-in-command, Wolvie was the edgy team member, Thing was the muscle, and Hawkeye was the comic relief (Spidey dabbled in this too, of course). That fic is my pride and joy, because I did whatever I wanted with it. Those five heroes are my all-time favorite Marvel characters. I remember just grabbing a sheet of paper and making list upon list of potential arcs for the story. The team never got any new members, and no one ever left (well, I had Wolvie leave...twice). I enjoyed writing it, and I guess people loved reading it. I don't think I'll ever reach that level of writing again. It felt like I was writing about a family, not a team.
The fic went on for two years. The team had fought every mainstream villain in the Marvel Universe (including Galactus and Thanos), plus a plethora of lesser-known villains. Last spring, I decided enough was enough and I concluded it by having them fight an alliance between Loki, Dr. Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Ultron.
I'll find it and put a link up. I'd love for you guys to read it and give your thoughts. It's pretty long, though. I think it has nearly 90 chapters in it... I'm not sure.

I'll slowly push through it when I find the time. Obviously 90 chapters won't happen overnight lol!

Like I said, two years, haha.
I've been prowling through FanFiction.net and I haven't found it. It doesn't help that I forgot my username and password for the account I used to post the story.

How would people feel about a separate board here to post whatever fanfiction you've written, be it DC or anything else? Without worrying about continuity or monthly deadlines or anything like that?

That would be amazing.
So, I spent all night looking through all the Avenger fics at FanFiction.net, and I couldn't find my New Avengers story. I really have no idea what to do now.

Some friends and I wrote two seasons of original Power Ranger team fanfiction, but the board deleted everything and like an idiot I only saved my third of the chapters, so they're gone forever. :/
