"Then I will teach them to kneel before the severed head of their king!"
Now that's a badass line, Zod has instantly become a great villain for me with just that line, anything he does after this is going to be judged against that line.
Hal's entrance was also awesome but not as great as Zod's line. Everything was really good as well but those two moments were the best.

The epic showdown continues, and our heroes certainly prove to be an interesting wild card in the proceedings. It's good that you're able to give us the "heroes meet and don't get along at first" trope quickly and get it out of the way, given the stakes. It certainly makes sense that they'd have misgivings at being summoned somewhere, but are all far too reasonable people to get bogged down in that and come to blows without having all the facts.
I like how you're giving us an updated Aquaman - it certainly makes sense that he'd be dramatically different from the last time we saw him, nearly a decade ago in-universe, especially having been put into the position of ruler. I hope someone's inclined to pick up where you leave off with him and expand upon that, there's certainly plenty to explore. Her interactions with Aquaman in particular were fun, there seems to be some real chemistry between them, and hopefully you find reasons for them to play off one another in future issues. Hopefully he gets something of a chance to be a badass later on to compensate for his jobbing to Zod here.
It was also smart of you to explain (without making it sound like you were explaining to the audience) why you chose to split the teams up the way you did. Your reasoning was perfectly logical, but it's good that you explained it. I was certainly questioning it at the beginning.
You're doing a nice job of balancing keeping the Kryptonians and Zod in particular looking strong, while not being something so completely overwhelming that it'd be unrealistic to see either Luthor or our heroes pull off the ultimate victory. Hal's appearance at the last moment was nicely staged as well - and gives our heroes some much needed firepower.
Nicely done and well worth the wait, hopefully we don't have to wait so long for the next one, but then again as they say a thing is only late until it ships, but if it sucks, it sucks forever - if you need time to pull off issues of this quality, take what you need. I'll still be here to read them.

I'm not sure why Superman had to be taken off the field when the antagonists of the story are an army of people with his powers and Lex Luthor wearing a suit of armor specifically designed to fight them, but I have to say I really like how magic wasn't an automatic deus ex machina solution to that problem.
I did like the brief look at the heroes doing their everyday thing (though Batman grounding Robin from crimefighting was... weird? I admit to having not read Knights yet so maybe it's a thing he would do, but it seemed weird to me), and the different ways the different heroes handled similar situations. Honestly, wasn't big on them all being summoned because magic decided that they should be, but that's an issue I have with magic anyway.
The heroes seemed to get onboard with crossing the tundra and working together really quickly, considering the suspicion and hostility Aquaman showed during their initial meeting.
Loved Batman's threat for the ARGUS troops, though for the one who brought up ending the conflict through diplomacy he really did get confrontational with Lex far too quickly. I suppose that could have been on purpose; while I do like the idea of Batman assuming he's the best at everything while not actually being so, he was the one who threatened ARGUS first (arguably justified), came in insulting Luthor, and who attacked Luthor first.
I'm also not too clear on what the plan in the ARGUS base was. Would taking an armload of equipment away really be enough to stall Luthor's plans when he already has an army of clones and armored troops ready for war?
Aquaman ready to battle Zod was perfectly in character, but Wonder Woman went a little too quickly from ambassador to warrior for my taste (though that's another series I haven't read, so maybe it's justified, especially since you write her).
All in all, though, I enjoyed the first two issues. There are flaws, sure, but the dialogue and personalities (the things I care most about in the things I read) really drew me in.

I take full responsibility for the Batman "grounding" line. It was my campy idea to lighten him up so his tone matches the team's. Plus, I was trying to make it clear this new Robin is his blood son, Damian, without outright stating it. However, I realize now that this was a bad idea.
Edit: Knights never even remotely has a scene as campy as that.

I might be the only person who didn't have any issue with that line - Batman doesn't have to be all dour all the time, and I just took it as a sign that he comes out of Knights with a bit of a different perspective on interacting with people. To each their own, but I thought it worked nicely.

Okay. I've only read the first issue. I also just read everyone's opinions on it. I will say that the issue works pretty well for a newcomer to the board to jump in and get a vague idea of the surrounding 'UDC' universe outside of or radiating around this series. Were some parts vague ? Yes. But, they need to be in order to not step on anyone else's toes. Did that hurt the story ? Not at all. I thoroughly enjoy the idea of Zatanna as Fate. I don't know if that has been done before, but I like it. Kudos. -Jay

Damn this series is awesome. It's everything a Justice League comic should be, the best heroes of the DCU fighting world ending threats where each hero gets a chance to show why they're on the team.
That being said I find the line 'she said all too mischeviously' a bit riduclous, unless you're hinting at Zatanna being secretly evil or at least having much more control over what's going on it just feels out of place.
