Just setting this up. I know issue #0 is a little small, but I just wanted to give a quick introduction to two of the characters and give everyone a taste for what the book is going to be like. I'm eager to hear what you all think, so feel free to blast me with criticism/praise/apathy :)
Thanks for reading, I hope it was entertaining.

I'm not sure what to make of it. As a real big fan of Aquaman I find this direction odd. I'm interested to see where it goes, but not sure if I like it or not.

Fair enough :)
I hope that you'll stick it out for another issue or two and see where it goes. Either way thank you for reading and giving me some feedback :)

so far i like the direction that ur taking it, and i look forward 2 the next few issues 2 see how it pans out. i was wondering while i read, aquaman has an office in atlantis [or im assuming thats wat it is cause u never naamed it and u gave their race a new name] but does he have an office on land?? because i felt like u hinted towards that

First off, thank you to buck, jackalope and jasonred for giving me some feedback Second, in response to jason: The race is called Atleans, descendents of the fall of Atlantis MANY years ago. The capital city of the ocean is called Atlantis, though it is NOT the same city that fell under the waves, no one knows where that is anymore. He had an office in Atlantis, but he does not have one on land. At least not yet. In this world Aquaman hasn't been to dry land very often as of yet, though that is going to change. I made a lot of changes in order to get Aquaman out of the water and onto dry land. I was always confused in the regular continuity why a married man, who was a king, who had a child, who had an adopted son (pretty much anyway), who was the only super hero of the ocean, who was responsible for all of his people, would just up and leave the ocean for weeks at a time to help the surface dwellers who already had thousands of heroes helping them. Just seemed weird. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback, and I hope the next issue will answer some of your questions, and give you some more to ask.

Your little description in response to Jason definitely helped. I would have liked to see a bit more of that in the issue, but it was a good issue.
Definitely a big change of pace from the first guy to do it. His was more mythological, yours is more mundane, which isn't a bad thing. We actually don't have a title that deals with mundanity, so yours is kind of a really cool contrast to all our other titles.
Keep it up!

A very different Aquaman and not in a bad way. Reminded me of Marvels noir series with the opening in the office. Overall it was a solid zero issue and I'll definitely be checking out the next one.

Thanks C-Miller and kardonwire. To C_Miller: I want to include all of that background information in a sub-board called Secret Files or something like that. I didn't want to engineer a way for Aquaman and Garth to talk about the history of Atlantis, mainly because I couldn't think of a way to do it without it feeling forced. I will however add in bits and pieces as we go to each story where it's appropriate, so no one HAS to read the secret files if they don't want to. To kardonwire: Thanks. The comic will be kinda split. When Aquaman is on the surface it's going to feel very superhero-y. Fights in the middle of towns, property damage, supervillains, etc. But when Aquaman is in the ocean I want it to have a very Noir Detective feel to it, for the most part. Thanks for the feedback guys, keep it coming

It was an interesting read for the most part . I liked the more detective type Orin and him not being liked as a half human/Atlean. I am interested in what Mera will be in this. (And is she called Meral ? or is that a typo ?) I did like having Garth be his best friend.

So, it's magic-Batman/ Dick Tracy, and sometimes underwater.... The strangest version of Aquaman I've ever had the chance to read, definitely. But, you've got me on the hook. (That's a fish-pun

Thanks for superecwfan1 and oberonfrost for reading First to super: I thought your name was super CW fan, and I thought "hmm, I guess the CW was ok, but maybe it's Smallville that got him." Then I realized my mistake Mera IS named Meral here for an important reason. It'll all become clear next issue, though Mera is going to be a little different from what you know. Second to oberonfrost: I loved the pun made me laugh. Second, it is kind of Dick Tracy, in fact that's a pretty big inspiration for the style of his underwater adventures. The on land stuff will be more super hero style. Thanks for reading everyone.

Just took care of your subboard. If you want something more creative then I think there's an actual subboard request board somewhere around here.
Unusual take like others have said. I'm more fond of my Aquaman being the grand old adventuring type like the kings of old but there's nothing wrong with this. Was an interesting read and one of those things which does make this more ULTIMATE than others.
BatB #6 was supposed to crossover with the last Aquaman since it is a Kaldur centric issue. Hopefully we can work something out so that it'll still be possible.
