Does anyone here actually read comics? Besides past stuff, we've had very little talk about them and for all intents and purposes they provide the basis for what we do here.
So what have you been reading lately? Do you get comics regularly? Stuff like that.
I'm currently re-reading DC: The New Frontier for the first time since I first read it back in like 2005. So fantastic. THe history aspect really appeals to me.

I'm getting about 6 or so of the new 52. From what I hear the relaunch has been pretty successful so far (though I'm absolutely positive the idea for resetting the universe came from someone at DC stumbling across this site...). Otherwise I'm trying to keep up with Ultimate Marvel stuff. Also a few smaller ones, Sweet Tooth, Invincible, and anything Hellboy.
My favourite thing I've read in the last while (Ok probably a few months back) is Orc Stain, anyone else checked this out. Not a hugely deep story but amazing art, and pretty funny too.

Atomic Robo. Lots of Atomic Robo. Plus a few of the new 52 as well as Daredevil and Punisher.

I stopped buying new stuff for many years, but with the new 52, I have started picking up some of the titles again--Stormwatch, Demon Knights, Animal man, All Star Western, Suicide Squad, Frankenstein. Excellent reads.

I read comics now and then. It's harder now that my comic book shop went out of business and prices have gone up so I have to be picky. Luckily my library has a decent selection of TPBs. I read Walking Dead whenever they get a new volume in.
Sometimes it's hard to read comics. Like years ago I stopped reading Batman because it was a case of A) Same ol' shit or B) Wildly goofy shit. And then I stopped reading JLA during Joe Kelly's run because it was garbage.

In all I still read and collect. I have been more surprised how much I have enjoyed some books from the new DC.

I haven't been able to read much, since I lost my job a few months back. I'm re-reading the Trinity maxi series. I've also managed to keep up with Wonder Woman, Justice League Dark and Animal Man in the New52. Starting a new job tomorrow morning, so I'll finally be able to start reading everything I want in a couple weeks.

I fell out of comics after Daredevil got ousted by a tabloid rag and his title went all to crap and the whole Marvel reboot that last roughly 12 months.
I used to read Spidey and DD but Brand New Day put the bullet in Spidey for me. Jeez, kill Aunt May for heaven's sake.
Anyway, I got back into comics with the DC relaunch, Action, Superman and JLA and so far I love them all.

I've been keeping up with some of the new 52. As well as reading Uncanny X-Force and Avengers Academy. I've read a lot more books this year, which is odd; I normally read more comics than books. I read the occasional alternative series, as those do have the best stories. The most recent was Transmetropolitan. I'm catching up with The Unwritten when I get time as well.

I love me some Vertigo and Wildstorm. I just finished Y: The Last Man for the billionth time and I'm currently going through Ex Machina, also by Brian K. Vaughan

Vaughanis the man. I wish he'd write more for mainstream DC. I'd love to see what he could do on The Flash or something. But he's one of the few writers who's been relatively prolific writers that I've loved everything I've read by him. Even Grant Morrison has a couple comics here and there that I can't get into (And Morrison is the reason I started writing). Runaways was another series I really got into. Unfortunately, other writers took over after he left.

Vaughan's got a new series out from Image, with Fiona Staples, called..Something Saga. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I can bet it's going to be brilliant. Ex Machina was some of the smartest comics I've ever read, and some of the most interesting and beautiful.
I read a lot of comics, seriously, and Vaughan's are always, always entertaining and well written. He's gold.

I can't believe it took me this long to discover Ex Machina. I'm a 4th year Political Science Major and have been a comic fan forever. It seems to perfectly fit my interests.

I agree with everything everyone's said about Vaughn. Read a lot of his work and it's all fantastic. I was so mad he didn't write a longer run on Ultimate X-Men, that stuff was great.

I recently ended a 4 year hiatus where I did not buy any new comics. I just got tired of the endless events at the big 2 and the lack of any real coherent story telling. I kept up with a few titles I was reading via trades during that period (mostly Fables and Conan).
Now I am picking up a handful of titles since I started helping out the owner of our local lcs as a back-issue consultant.
Of the New DC52, I am reading and loving Scott Snyder's Batman but tried and dropped Justice League Dark. Zatanna + Madame Xanadu + Constantine +Deadman should be instant win in my book, but Peter Milligan seems incapable of telling a coherent story. I have been trying his stuff since the 90's when he first started on stuff for Vertigo and have yet to read a single story by him that I liked. He just seems like the guy who tires too hard-he tries to be weird and deep like Moore and Morrison but his stuff to me comes across as forced, stitled, and incoherent. I will pick up the new Night Force mini by Marv Wolfman and Tom Mandrake when it starts in March as well.
From Marvel I am getting Waid's Daredevil-a superb book and quite a departure from the dark depths Bendis and Brubaker took the book to. I am also getting Defenders because, well because it's got a recognizable Dr. Strange and it is exploring the weird places of the Marvel U, so it is a concept that interests me. The journey is still out on whether I will keep getting this.
For other stuff-I am getting some Ostrander Star Wars stuff ( I liked Legacy) including Agent of Empire (picture a mash up of Bond and Star Wars) and the upcoming Dawn of the Jedi (explores the formation of the Jedi order in Star Wars pre-history). I am also picking up Conan the Barbarian by Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan when it starts next month and the King Conan mini starting this week.
From Image I am getting Fatale from Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips-a noir tale with a Lovecraft flavor, and will be getting Brian K. Vaughan's new sci-fi epic Saga when it launches in March (look for the alien breast-feeding cover).
From Vertigo I am following Fables in trade still, thinking about getting the Fairest spin-off, and have started getting into the Unwritten by Mike Carey and Peter Gross. Scalped and DMZ look good to possibly look at trades if budgets allow.

I've recently gotten into Irredeemable and Incorruptible, and both are amazing. Sadly, they're ending soon. It's really worth checking out as it explores the pressures placed on super heroes by society.
