Since DC announced after Flashpoint they renumbering of all the titles #1, along with Johns and Jim Lee doing a JLA title. I was just curious what everyone's thoughts about it.

If it was just a way to get new readers I would be ok with it but all this new costume designs and reinventing characters for a modern audience has me saying no dice.

*shrug* sales must have dipped one half of a percent or something. At the end of the day endless re-invention is part of superhero comics. So long as the stories are interesting I personally don't have any problem with this. Much more interesting and exciting to me is the news that with the relaunch they will be going to day and date on digicomics. I've gone to primarily digital for my books and this gives Me a really big incentive to do the same with my comics now too.

And now that Green Lantern is at its all-time best! Grr.

And now that Green Lantern is at its all-time best! Grr. I don't think there's much need for worry. Geoff Johns has made it fairly clear that he considers GL his baby, so I tend to imagine that there won't be too much change beyond the cosmetic.

The more and more details that are coming out has made me more intrigued about the whole thing. Bleeding Cool has stuff up saying Superman by Grant Morrison, Superman and Wonder Woman would be an item, Legion Lost, Nightwing #1, Batgirl #1 with Barbara as Batgirl...So I wonder what they'll keep in continuity and what will change. It'll be an interesting September that's for sure.

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt but the whole thing has me skeptical at this point. DC hasn't been able to go a few years without trying to "shake up" things for a while when they should really be focusing on quality writing instead of dicking around with years of history. The whole reason I stopped reading DC was because frankly I didn't care for the writing.

Want to know something ironic? I don't read comics anymore. The last thing I read was Blackest Night. I don't care for the way decisions are made by comics publishers and how editors really fail to make a tight continuity. I still love the characters, though.

I just hope that Grant Morrison is allowed to finish up his epic on Batman, I'll be content. If not I will be very unhappy. The threads of this have been in the comics for like five years and to have it broken up by Geoff Johns' fanwank, I'll be very displeased.

I'm with Fox. Soon as I knew Morrison would be back next year to finish his epic I was overall contented. There are some real bummers (Erase 22 years of Oracle? Really? Bryan Miller doesn't get to write anything?) and some total winners (Morrison on Action and a Blue Beetle book!)

Just read the second in the flashpoint Batman- Knight of Vengeance, holy crap it's good. I'm abit sorry it's only 3 parts. The other flashpoint comics I've read have been pretty average. The Grodd one might be good. Anyway, anyone else reading any interesting ones? Or what are people reading in general?

I try my best not to get caught up in events. I spent way too much money as a kid trying to read everything (Infinite Crisis just about bankrupted me) and that's what essentially got me out of comics. Currently I'm only reading Detective Comics, Batgirl and Batman Inc, all of which I'm dropping in September (Inc isn't coming back until 2012 and 'Tec and Batgirl don't interest me with the new teams).
I'll be picking up Aquaman, Animal Man, Justice League, Justice League: Dark, Batman, Swamp Thing, Legion of Superheroes, Legion Lost and Action Comics. Half of those will probably be dropped though come October.

I've been reading most of them, the Grodd one shot was good, Batman is awesome. I liked the first issue of Abin Sur, but the second issue had some art problems, to many different artists. Flashpoint got interesting with the reveal at the end of the last issue. Other then that I've scanned through the others, Emperor Aquaman and Lois Lane and the Resistance wasn't to bad. Also, Booster Gold is pretty good, but Jurgens art is good, but every woman he draws has big hair from like the eights which is weird, but whatever.

Justice League looks amazing. I ordered it from Midtown Comics, so I only thumbed through it. I don't know about the story, but the art looked beautiful. Best Jim Lee I've ever seen.
I'm really excited for the New 52. My main problem with DC post IC is that very few titles had their own distinct voice. They all felt very generic and like they were written by a board of editors rather than writers. But I feel like they're getting away from that. From what I've seen every book feels very distinct and I love that.
My final list for September is Batman, Action Comics, Justice League, Aquaman, Stormwatch, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Legion, Legion Lost, Justice League: Dark, Nightwing, and Frankenstein. I'm already planning on dropping half of those for trades, but I'll probably keep Batman, Action, Swamp Thing and possibly Nightwing and Frankenstein. This will allow me wiggle room for newer books to come out (JSA and The Shade mini).

I liked what I read in Justice League today the only real disappointment for me was I only bought that and Flashpoint and would've preferred for a few more books to drop. Though I am picking up seven books next week which should help some.

I thought Justice League was pretty good. I flew through the issue I had to read it again to make sure I didn't miss anything. My wallet is going to be hiding from me starting next week.
I was planning on buying all 52 in the beginning, but I plan on picking up: Justice League, Aquaman, Flash, Green Arrow, GL, GLC, New Guardians, Batman, Detective, Batman & Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark, Demon Knights, Teen Titans, Stormwatch, Blackhawks, Grifter, Suicide Squad, Action and Superman. That's 22 titles...I'm starting to think I'll need a second job just for my comic buying.

Wow the first week's books are all pretty good. I only got five books but they've all been pretty good and my only real complaint is Liefeld's art is terrible.

I actually had a chance to read all of the books and I was surprised at the level of quality among all of them. I mean there were clearly books in the upper tier like Action Comics, Swamp Thing and Animal Man, but I don't think I read a truly bad book. I don't like Liefield, but I find him to be better than Bachalo (the only artist to ever chase me off a book).
Green Arrow was a wee bit disappointing though.
