Ultimate Suicide Squad #2
Terrorist Hunt Part 2: Search for a terrorist hideout
Paris, France; Underneath the Eiffel Tower
“Mo’ champagne, my perry during this wonderful walk?” A man wearing a finely tailored suit and a fedora to hide a distinctive green costume that he can not remove, hands a freshly shaven man, who is wearing a plain blue hat, a newly bought and recently opened bottle of champagne. The man who is offered the bottle looks at the person giving the offering with a sneer. Although one would assume that he only knew where his fellow walking partner was thanks to the sound of his voice. For he has the same cloudy eyes disincentive of a blind man. But those people would be wrong for Crazy Quilt is far from blind, though has a strange outlook on life, thanks to a helmet that he has hidden underneath his blue hat.
“No, I don’t want any champagne. Also, I think you pronounced that last word wrong, Irwin. Perry sounds more like a name than any French term you were looking for.” The man holding the bottle of champagne, also known as Ambush Bug, just shrugs before downing the bottle.
“Whatever, Paul. Hey, at least you get to spend this part of the trip with me! I bet the others are jealous.” Quilt stays silent as he knows it is best to keep your mouth shut around Ambush Bug. The man could go on forever just by talking to himself. Or to the “readers” as he likes to put it. As Strange had put it after his first session with Ambush, the ex-thief is highly delusional and might be over the bounds of even the worst cases of schizophrenia.
But they have a job to do. And that is to find out where the hideout of the terrorists is at. Actually, that is everyone in Suicide Squad’s job. It is just that Hugo Strange and the group’s handler, Amanda Waller, had determined three sites in Paris that would be the best places to lead them to the terrorists. Bronze Tiger and Electrocutioner have a bar that a bunch of “suspected” members of the terrorist group tend to hang out at. Multiplex has a park where some more members of the terrorists like to bring their kids to.
Which Paul and Irwin find sort of suspicious. Why those two particular places? Strange estimates that the reason the terrorists bring their kids to the park was to better keep a low profile and is a possible place where they exchange encoded messages. But not even the great Hugo Strange, the very man who managed to hack into the U.N. and learn every single secret that everyone involved with the organization could have a reason to hide, could give a positive answer to why an entire group of terrorists would prefer one bar over another. But hey, Crazy Quilt and Ambush Bug don’t have to worry about either the bar or the park.
Paul immediately gives a shudder at the thoughts of what Ambush Bug would do at either of those places. He suspects a large fight would break out and a ton of cops would arrive. Ambush and Quilt are covering the Eiffel Tower since Strange is certain the group would send some of their kind to scope out the Tower so they can be sure that their preparations to blow it up will go as plan. Amanda Waller, the group’s handler, estimates that it will be a couple of months before the terrorists could gather enough explosives to do as they planned.
“I’m bored! When can we get into the fighting bits! You know, I bet Bronze and Electro, no wait, that name is already taken, have already started a bar room brawl! And we are gonna miss it!” To the dismay of Quilt, who is at least trying to keep quiet, Ambush Bug puts an arm around his shoulder. “Come on, Paul. Just a quick trip to the bar. We check to see if they started a brawl yet. If not we get back here and continue this boring stakeout mission. If they did start a brawl, we will go in, kick some ass a bit, and then come back just as quickly we went.”
When Quilt still refused to answer, the man even had the gall to walk away from Bug; Ambush immediately pulled on his arm and forced the semi-blind man to face him. “Are you listening to what I have to say?! Listen, I can get us there in and out, crap, now I’m hungry, within a couple of seconds! I can teleport anywhere in the world, remember?”
Crazy Quilt kindly pushes Ambush away from him as he tried to walk away. “Please, just shut up, Irwin. I know what you are capable of, but I don’t want to risk leaving our place. In case you are forgetting, we have nanobots within our bloodstream designed to kill us if we disobey orders. And please, keep your voice down. We don’t want anyone being too suspicious. Especially here.” Ambush Bug looked around but could only see three other people and they are all far away. Strange, he thought there would be more tourists.
“Come on, no one here is gonna pay attention to my random- Yellow!” Paul looked at Ambush in confusion over his random outburst. Well, he would have looked at Ambush Bug if he was still right next to him. Instead he is holding a man by his shirt, pathetically trying to lift him up into the air, and is yelling random things at him. Crazy Quilt could only sigh in embarrassment as he walked towards Irwin Schwab and hope that he could calm the madman down. He bets Benjamin and Lester didn’t have to deal with this kind of bull.

Paris, France; The terrorist’s bar; Ten minutes ago
Lester Buchinsky, aka Electrocutioner, looks through the window of the local bar, and turns to Benjamin Turner aka Bronze Tiger. Ben gives a nod and opens the door. The inside of the door is similar to most bars you would see in media. A bunch of tables set up in an almost random order with an actual bar set against the door opposite the bar. There are several stools in front of the said bar where the bartender cleans some glasses. And almost every seat is full with the customers and bartender looking at Electrocutioner and Bronze Tiger suspiciously. “I’ll handle this, Lester. Just stay back and only jump in if things get out of control. And depending how uncooperative they are, things will probably get ugly real quick.”
The Electrocutioner doesn’t say anything and sits at an empty table as Bronze Tiger heads toward one of the stools. The man is weary of the many eyes staring at him. Both Suicide Squad members can sense the suspicion and bloodlust emitting from everyone. The chances of getting the information they want without starting a fight is extremely low. As low as the chances of none of the members of the Suicide Squad losing their lives.
Bronze sat on the closest stool that is not taken. He signaled to the bartender that he would like a drink, before looking at the men around him. Tiger then gets a transmission from Hugo Strange. “According to what I am seeing thanks to the nanites in your bloodstream allowing me access to your optical senses (Note to self, thank Waller for access to these fascinating machines) and the files that we have on the group we seek, over half of the people here are who we seek. Most likely even more since the exact size is unknown and the identity of everyone involved is not confirmed. I estimate that out of the fifty here, thirty of them are our targets. This also includes the bartender, which suggests that practically everyone here is part of the terrorist group. Would explain why they would all choose to hang out here. Though, in a professional opinion, they are foolish in the first place to not be far more separate with each other. If a fight starts, make sure that anyone you kill is not a civilian. Accidents happen, but that is no reason to be careless. That goes to you as well, Electrocutioner.”
The Bronze Tiger sighs as he is given a beer from the reluctant bartender. It looks like a fight is more imminent every passing second. Good thing they are authorized to use lethal force. Any civilians killed won’t be their fault. It is not like any of them would be trying to kill anyone but their targets on purpose. Tiger focused on the man to his right. This will be his informant, whether he wants to be one or not. And since a fight is going to happen anyway, might as well be blunt in the questioning. “Do you speak English?” The man gave Tiger a death glare before looking away. “I think you do. So, how about you do me a favor and tell me where your group is and how you are planning to bring down the Eiffel Tower.”
The terrorist looked at the Bronze Tiger in surprise while others started crowding around the African-American. Electrocutioner got up and put himself in a better position that will benefit in an inevitable fight. Bronze Tiger ignores the warning that Hugo gives to him while he continues. “You think I am not prepared for retaliation from your pals? I am not someone who goes into something blind. I know your type. You are the type that no matter what threat I make, you will jump me along with everyone else here anyway. That just because of sheer numbers and hidden weapons, I will go down easily. So I am just going to let you know right now. Don’t be surprised when you are proven wrong.”
Bronze then grabbed a wrist of a man who tried to punch and twist it so hard that it breaks. He then rushes into the man he was talking to avoid any more attacks from the people around him. Another man takes out a knife and tries to stab Bronze Tiger, only to get launched into a wall. Everyone turned to the man who did it and saw a man wearing a bandana over his head and glowing hands. The Electrocutioner smirked before shooting out more electrical blasts at the terrorists, causing them to duck to avoid getting hurt.
While that goes on, Tiger grabs his chosen informant and dragged him behind the bar where the bartender was hiding behind. Bronze Tiger saw said bartender loading a gun and decided that wouldn’t do. Bronze Tiger grabbed the man’s head and slammed into the floor three times and gives a good old fashioned punch to the face for good measure. He then turned towards his captive. “You are going to stay here for a while until I need you, okay?” There was no response as Tiger gives him a resounding headbutt to have him knocked out before getting up.
Electrocutioner grabs one of the people in the bar and he puts a clenched fist to his face. The Electrocutioner smirks as the glove shot out electricity in full force into the man’s face, killing him. He is then tackled by another person onto the floor. The attacker gets ready to pound the Electrocutioner’s face only to be kicked in his manhood. As the man clutched his crotch, the Electrocutioner kicked the terrorist off of him, straight into a crowd ready to jump onto the Electrocutioner’s prone body. He then got up and blasted at two more of the men that are starting to surround him, each one holding a different melee weapon from knives to bats. He barely had enough time to wonder where they got the weapons as the group rushed him
Bronze Tiger grits his teeth at the predicament of his teammate. He is not going to allow another man die on him. Especially since he can prevent it this time. By Tiger’s count there are only about thirty of the fifty men that was in the bar left. Lester must have taken a few down while Ben was making sure that the guy he will be pumping information out of was in a safe place. That and the smart ones must have got the hell out of dodge.
Tiger does a quick jump over the counter and immediately leg sweeps three people that were near it. Bronze Tiger grabs one of the fallen men’s arm and snaps it; he grabs another’s head and slams it into the floor and stomped on it. The last one he had downed, faints due to intense fear of what would have been done to him. The Bronze Tiger then sees a man grab a bottle, ready to slam it over the former’s head. With a couple of quick punches to the solar plexus and a twist of the arm, the bottle was now in Tiger’s hand. He then threw at the crowd of people who were starting to get on top of Electrocutioner.
When the man who got hit in the head turned around, Tiger jumped into him, slamming into five others in the process. This startled the crowd that was on top of Electrocutioner, whom had completely forgot about Tiger when a man was shooting electrical blasts at everyone, and they immediately got up to give Bronze Tiger some hell. Electrocutioner, seeing an opportunity, aims his fist against a man’s back and fired. He then clumsily got up and grabbed a man’s throat and socked him in the face before firing another electrical blast at him.
Tiger grabbed two more men and slammed their heads together before chopping another man in the throat, cutting off his air supply. Bronze Tiger grabs the choking man and snapped his neck before kicking another and downing two more. He holds onto another terrorist and slams his knee into the man’s face and elbows the back.
Electrocutioner smiles at how he and Tiger are actually winning against all of these people. There are only a handful of them left. But he was so busy concentrating on keeping two others from attacking; Electrocutioner did not notice one of his opponents grab a chair and slam it over the electricity shooting ex-criminal’s head.
Bronze Tiger, hearing the noise, looks at the source and sees the Electrocutioner knocked out. In a fit of rage, Ben leaped to the one who hurt his ally and brutally assaulted him. When he finally got his anger under control, the Bronze Tiger was already hit over the head by several random items in the bar. Hugo Strange frantically tries to get the two Suicide Squad members to respond. But it is to avail as they are dragged away by the last five remaining men still standing into the cellar below.

Paris, France; Random Park
Danton Black, aka the clone producing Multiplex, looks at the park around him. It is small and simple. Some trees planted here and there. A single walkway that goes from one end to the other in a straight line. There is a small pond several feet to his left. Could be a useful place to employ some interrogation techniques is needed. Multiplex is currently wearing his civilian clothes and has three of his clones scouring the place for one of the suspected terrorists. “Remember Multiplex. Try not to bring harm to the civilians. We are trying for a stealth approach here. Only fight if it is inevitable.”
Multiplex doesn’t respond as he walks through the park. There are about twelve people here, and all of them seem innocent enough. None that he recognized from the files he was given. Though it bugs Danton that while a lot of the members of this terrorist is confirmed, Waller couldn’t figure out who the leader is or where they are based out. Hopefully, the rest of Checkmate had hindered Waller’s search instead of this group just being that evasive.
A man grunted in annoyance as Multiplex accidentally bumps into him, lost in thought. “Sorry.” He was about to move on, when Danton got a good look at the man’s face. He was a member of one of the terrorists. He kept on moving but then speaks into the miniature communication device that was in his ear. The best tech Checkmate could make. Or gather, or however the group gets this stuff. Who knows what the group is too or how they do it. Danton is not a hundred percent certain even though he is a part of Checkmate.
“C-2. This is C-0,” Multiplex whispers. “Target is spotted. He is a couple of feet away from me. He has short black hair, wearing a scarlet shirt, navy blue jeans, is wearing glasses similar to Strange’s…” Multiplex then stops and looks at the man to make sure he has the descriptions correct. He then noticed that the man was staring at something, and a quick look confirms he is looking at a kid around eight years old, looking into the pond. The kid looks awfully similar to the terrorist. It didn’t take long for Danton to figure out that the kid was this guy’s son, and it didn’t take any longer for a plan to form. “And he is with his son. C-1, I want to get close to the kid, but try to not look suspicious. C-2 and C-3 get somewhere nearby. Remember, if anyone asks any questions about your appearance, say that you are twins. Try not to draw, and keep off, attention of me and C-1. No matter what I say, keep doing what you are doing.”
Hugo Strange then interjected into Multiplex’s orders. “What are you planning, Multiplex? Remember what I said, no harm must come to these citizens. If you do anything that will intentionally cause harm to anyone except-” Multiplex tells Hugo to stuff it as he stands near the man he had bumped into earlier. The man eyes Danton, but says nothing as he watches over his son.
“Nice weather we are having.” The man stays silent, clearly showing signs that he wants Multiplex to leave him the hell alone. “We might want to start talking. For example, where is the hideout of the terrorist group you are with?” The man looked at Multiplex in surprise and was about to something until his mouth was covered by Danton’s hand. “Just to be clear, don’t say anything that you might regret. See that man near your son? You know what he will do if you shout for help or try to run away?” The man’s eyes grow wide; showing that he fully understands what will happen if he does any of those things. “Good, also, I have a couple of other guys skulking around, ready to lend me a hand. If you look around, I am sure you will spot at least two of them. So, ready to talk yet?”
The hand then comes off the victim’s, who is visibly shaken, mouth. His eyes dart towards his son before going back to Multiplex. “In the wine cellar of a bar two miles from here, you can find a hidden door set in one of the walls. Just push your body against it for ten seconds, and it will slide open. It will lead directly to a series of hallways. In the center of it all, there is a large where we hold our explosives and meetings.” The man says all of this calmly, with a slight shivering betraying the fear he is feeling. When Multiplex continues to stare at him, the man continues only with tears starting to break through a little. “P-please, t-that is all y-y-you n-n-need to k-know. A-anything you f-find down there t-that you a-aren’t prepare, I h-honestly did not know a-about. Just leave my s-s-s-son…”
Multiplex then puts a hand up to silence the man. He doesn’t need someone breaking down in front of him. He then turned around called his clones back so he can reabsorb them in a place where no one can notice him do that. The terrorist he had interrogated ran towards his son and told him that they should go home now. “That was a risky maneuver you made, Multiplex. Do not do that ever again without my advi-” Dalton raises an eyebrow at the fact Hugo actually stopped his lecture. He knew something was wrong, and he was disappointed when Hugo came back. “Electrocutioner and Black Tiger have been compromised. They are located… at the same bar that young man told you. They are probably going to be taken to their leader now. Go there, rescue them, locate the door, and make them regret their ways. I will be sending Ambush Bug and Crazy Quilt to the same bar immediately.”
-------------------------------------------
Paris, France; Far up on the Eiffel Tower
Crazy Quilt almost has a heart attack and fell a couple thousand feet as he grabbed Ambush Bug’s shoulder. As he looks down, he gives out a small squeak. Crazy Quilt isn’t scared of heights, but it is easy to feel frightened when you go from the ground to one of the tallest points in the world in a single second. “Irwin, what are you doing?!” He then saw Ambush Bug dangling the man he had grabbed earlier over the ledge. And it looks like it is taking all of his strength to keep him from falling. This actually makes it more terrifying for the man whose life is on the line.
“Ugh! Tell me… who… you work… man you are heavy.” The man screams and starts telling Ambush Bug to put him down. “I don’t know…if you say so.” Before he could even pretend to drop him, and Ambush Bug might not even been able to catch him again without falling over himself, the man yelled that he changed his mind. Paul couldn’t help but think that was a smart move.
“Irwin, again, what the hell are you doing?” Schwab then looked at Crazy Quilt surprised he is here. “I grabbed your shoulder and ended up teleporting with you.” Quilt then glared at Ambush Bug, who had returned to the man he was interrogating. “Don’t make me repeat myself. What! The! Hell! Are! You! Doing?!” Ambush Bug sighs as he pulls the man in.
“Don’t you recognize him? He is one of the terrorists we were looking for.” Crazy opens his mouth before closing it in frustration. No use telling the mad man that while he can see with the Crazy Quilt helmet, the world is full of bright colors to him, making it hard to distinguish features some time. Especially hard to do when he had to memorize infinite faces in the reports Hugo Strange handed to them before they all came to Paris.
“Put him next to me. I will get him to talk.”
“Are you sure? What can you do that is better than this?” He then cocked his head towards his mundane, although taken to the extreme with the insane chance of the man being dropped and killed, interrogation method.
“My helmet does more then allows me to see. I can emit light beams, easily manipulate light, and cause people to be disoriented to the point that I can manipulate their minds.” Ambush Bug raises an eyebrow in an “I don’t believe you” way, but shrugs and gives the man to Quilt. Crazy Quilt smiles as he removes his hat, fully exposing his colorful helmet. “I will gladly prove it, right now.” Then a bunch of lights of various colors emits from the helmet, blinding the man to the point where he just sits on the floor and drools. “Tell me who you work for.”
“A man who works in the shadow. A man who will bring the entire world to its knees. A man who controls people with ease. No one dares speaks his name.” Before Crazy Quilt could ask the man to elaborate, he gets a message from Hugo Strange informing him and Ambush Bug about Bronze Tiger’s and Electrocutioner’s condition. “Shit. Ambush Bug; bring us down, and just the two of us. Right after I make one last suggestion.” Quilt then turned towards the man and emitted even more bright lights, to the point where the man is getting close to having seizure. “You will forget everything that happened in the past week. You will forget my face and my comrade’s. You will forget everything you have heard. You will forget our voices. You will simply forget.” Ambush Bug then touched Quilt’s shoulder, and the two of them vanished to the place where Hugo Strange said their comrades are at.
