The admins and I were discussing the fairest way to do title claims rather than just having a mad dash and have it be first come, first serve.
So we decided that we would enter everyone into a random draft order so it's fair to everyone. This is how it will work:
1. Each entrant will be able to claim 1 title (as per the new rules to be posted sometime this week)
2. Entrants will have 12 hours to post their claim or they will move down by one in the draft. This is so we give everyone a fair shot to claim in their slot while not having the thing held up for days at a time..
3. Solo titles will have 17 claims, team titles will have 20.
4. You may elect to keep your title from the original site, but you may only keep 17 or 20 from your original claim list as well. If you have less than that, you may claim additional characters to reach the new bench mark in your draft spot. The rest of your claims, however are automatic.
5. You may not drop characters to be able to claim new ones should you elect to keep your title, if you choose to do that, you must completely reclaim your title in the draft.
I think that covers all the important points. Now please, let me know here if you wish to enter the draft. You have until next Wednesday (The 10th) to post your interest. The draft order will be posted Thursday (the 11th) and the Draft will begin on Friday (the 12th).
Thanks and may the odds be ever in your favor.
Edit: Also please let me know if you will be keeping a series or starting from scratch.

I'm in. Although, slightly concerned about the 12 hour draft limit - I'm operating on an entirely different time scale here because of living in Britain.
Oh, well. Let's see how that goes.

I've just joined this site, came over from All Star Marvel. If it's not a problem I'd like to be involved in this reboot of the site as well.

I agree with this, I'm in Britain as well and the time may make it kind of difficult. Maybe 24 hours (Depending on how many people there are)? Just throwing it out there.

Just so we can plan accordingly, those who are saying you are in and had an active title when the reboot was announced, please indicate if you are going to continue one of your titles or start a new title.
As for the length of the window, we discussed that a bit. We tried to find a balance between getting the draft done quickly so we can get to the business of writing and putting out issues again and giving each person ample time to see that it is there turn, adjust claims for titles and characters already taken, and post their claim. That's why we decided if you miss your window you only move down one space rather than to the end of the list. We figures since most work or school days are only 8 hours and the typical sleep period is 8 hours, 12 gives everyone some time to get it done. 24 hour windows just made the draft drag on for too long a period, especially if we get into having double digit writers participating in the launch. We tried to take into consideration international members with some being in the UK and Jack being in New Zealand and 12 hours was the compromise length decided on.
If it will help, I can e-mail each writer when their window opens so they know rather than having to come in and check. Once we know who all is participating, who is taking new titles vs. old etc. Miller will enter the names in the randomizer and post the order. There will then be a little time before the first window opens to give everyone a chance to figure out about when they will be up to make their claim.
Of all the admins, my schedule is the most free over the next few weeks, so I will make sure I check in often and keep the draft moving along and keep people in the loop.
Which reminds me, yeah there are two new admins, but the plan is for me to only be an admin long enough to get the relaunch up and running, and the goal is for Miller to find someone to replace me as admin by the end of the year. We'll see how it goes though before final decisions are made.

I'm in, but I am completely rebooting my old title. Hopefully I can add the guys that I wanted in the first place (Like Riddler, Clock King, Deadshot, etc.) and add in some characters I was inspired to use sometime after the reboot was announced like Nathan Drake.

Hopefully I can add the guys that I wanted in the first place (Like Riddler, Clock King, Deadshot, etc.) and add in some characters I was inspired to use sometime after the reboot was announced like Nathan Drake. Ok if I am understanding Miller right (which is based on conversations rather than just the post, but I don't know what his final interpretation is so he can correct me if he is wrong), you need to decide if you are keeping your claim to Suicide Squad you must take all of your previous claims. If they are less than 20 you can claim more characters up to the 20 in the draft, but you cannot drop any of the current claims you currently have. Your current claim according the MCL is: Heroes: Electrocutioner (Lester Buchinsky), Crazy Quilt, Ambush Bug, Plastique, Mr. Freeze, Captain Boomerang II, Plastic Man Villians: Scorch, Mad Hatter, Ultra Humanite, Scarecrow, various dictators and others of the kind Support: Hugo Strange which is 12 character, so you could claim up to 8 moire in the draft, but those 12 are frozen. If you want to start fresh with your claims, you have to drop your claim to Suicide Squad, and you could reclaim the title when your turn comes up and claim 20 new characters, but you run the risk of someone claiming the title "Suicide Squad" and any of the characters you had claimed. So you need to decide if you are continuing your title (i.e. keeping your claim list) or starting a new title (even if that new title is Suicide Squad) with a blank slate, thus making all your current claims available in the draft. Since you had less than 20, you would get a spot in the draft order determined by the randomizer and would then get to claim the remaining characters up to the 20 limit for starting a team title. It's a trade off, if you are keeping your title, you are essentially taking a number of characters and a title before the draft starts, but you have to take them as a block, not pick and choose form what you already had. You have time to think about it, but we will need to know which way you are going to go before we enter names into the randomizer for the draft order. Also to clarify, though this is not pertinent to SK, if you keep a title and have more than the 17/20 limit, you must trim down to the limit, but will not be able to draft additional characters until you meet requirements for additional claims. You will need to make those choices before the claim draft begins as the person claiming first will need to know all characters available to claim. -M

I was already gonna go with starting from scratch route. Besides, I already have a back up plan should Suicide Squad be claimed. Then another back up plan. If that back up plan fails, then I will just sit back and read what is being posted here until inspiration strikes.

I'm in, and even though I'm new I was kind of angling to do an Ultimate Grifter title.
I think i'll be able to get on for the 12th, time difference is a bit wonky where I'm at

Hold off on mentioning claims. You don't want to make other writers who feel like assholes for claiming characters you're interested in. And also, it works like MRP said, but from the looks of it, we're not going to have any real trouble with it, since it seems as if everyone is going after new titles.

It just occurred to me that buck and MRP are now admins. O.o Dang. That was just a random comment, no need to respond. And thanks for the advice Miller.

And the reason I picked 12 hours is that I didn't want this process to take two weeks. I want it done as quick as possible. And I think 12 hours is plenty of time even for people in other countries. I actually expect most people to take nowhere close to their full time, so there's that as well.
