That's fair enough. I don't want to be the fly in the ointment, I just thought I'd mention it. If I have 12 hours, I'll try and get my stuff in within that time frame, if not...then, not, and I'll wait for me next go around.

If it is an issue when it comes draft time, we can definitely work something out.

Just after midnight in the east, making it Oct 10 here. So last day to sign up for the character draft. The cut off will be midnight EST. Anyone wanting to participate after sign up is done, is still welcome, but their claims will take place on a first come first serve basis after the draft process is complete.
Once the sign up deadline ends, the random draft order will be posted and we will open up the draft on Friday.
To give people time to check the list, the first draft window will open at 12 noon EST on Friday and last until 12 midnight Friday night. This gives everyone all day Thursday and part of Friday morning to check the draft order to see where they will be drafting and gives whoever is first time to see they are up, put together their claims and post them.
If you are participating in the draft, drop me a PM if you want me to e-mail you when your draft window opens. I work Friday night, so if #1 makes their claim while I am at work I will not be able to e-mail #2 until I get home, but I will do the best I can, or one of the other admins can send the message if they are available.
Remember claims are frozen once you make your initial claims until you reach eligibility for new claims, so be sure to include all heroes, villains, support and wallpaper requests in your claim.
Once your claim is tentatively approved, your claim will be locked and the next draft window will open. If any changes (such as someone not being approved as wallpaper, etc.) need done they will need to be done before the next person makes their claim so we all know who is available and who is taken. Be sure to check any prior claims before making yours to avoid duplication, sidekicks, legacy characters, etc. as part of your claim.

I'm not sure where to post this by the rule that says all villains must be used within 12 issues...what if the story you want to tell won't be as good or work at all if you don't hold off on revealing your villains. And, even if this won't change, because I doubt it will, would introducing your villains "in the shadows" kind of style work or must they be properly introduced or they are taken of your claims?

Yeah, how exactly would that work?
If you get to issue 11 and know you've only used 2 of your claimed villains, you just have to renew the claim. Kind of like a magazine subscription, you just have to renew them?

So I just came across this board, thought it was an amazing idea, and saw that you guys are doing a completely new draft. I thought it might be fate, mentioned it to my wife (big Wonder Woman and Green Arrow fan) who DEMANDED that I sign up. So... is it too late for me to sign up?

Kind of like a magazine subscription, you just have to renew them? If you've only used two by issue 12 and have 17 claims I'd think you should have to drop some. I'm all for "renewing" a few, but there has to be a line where you're not just sitting on loads of claims.

It would kind of depend on your writing style. I mean if you have Batman, and have Joker, Two-face, Penguin, Scarecrow, Ra's, Freeze, Ivy, Croc and Bane as your villains, you can't really expect someone to go through all those villains in 12 issues.
If we are worried about people sitting on claims, lower the claims to 12 and admins have final say on who would be considered wallpaper and supporting just so someone doesn't circumvent the rule.
Same here I'm excited.

But say you want to write 12 issues with...Bane, Freeze and Ivy and then another arc with Penguin and then you finally get around to Joker who you've been building up to for the past eighteen issues. What then? You can't use Joker because you didn't have him in the first twelve issues? Some villains just work a LOT better when you build up to them rather than just throwing them into the story as a random villain and then building onto them.

That's what I was trying to get at. I figure, you lower the claims people get more selective over their characters, which opens up characters that weren't claimed for other writers. Then we don't really need that rule in place.
