One of your finer issues when it comes to dialogue and it looks like it's Bart week with two appearances. Nice.
Can't wait for Wally to truly run.

It was a good read with Wally deciding he needed to be the Flash. I had sorta hoped Wally would keep it to himself awhile and had Jay , Dawn and others slowly learn of this stranger using Barry's suit and had them confront him. But I liked it. Good read man.

Nice issue. Thought Wally's and Jay conversation was natural and it made me remember how much I love Jay as a character. I look forward to Flash 2.0, nice to have a fresh start, and get to see his development from the beginning. Good work.

Just caught up with all the issues. You've done a good job with the whole Flash family aspect of the Flash, which has always been one of my favourite things about D.C. Flash so it's nice to see a different version here. Been waiting for Wally to take the mantle since he was introduced so can't wait to see what he gets up to.

Thanks for the reviews everybody. This keeps me going.
Well Issue 3 of Volume 2 is up. It's a bit of a deviation from what I've been doing. But it introduces some major plot lines I'm going to be following up on and it introduces a major villain who will be recurring throughout the series.

I normally give you my detailed reviews over IM so I'll keep it simple. You're probably one of the most improved writers on the site but you still miss chances to make a scene have more impact by adding a smidge more detail and description However, it is good to see you take advice to try and improve your style.

I loved the issue. Seeing Wally and Linda's relationship develop is awesome. The development with Wally is top notch and always love to see the Rogues getting more developed.

This really reminds me of the mainstream DCU Flash title when Wally was the Flash with Linda and the rogues there. Its a nice read. I do think you missed a chance to see Jessie fall from grace and come back. We seemed to lose that in a way for this 2nd volume.
I did like seeing Max Mercury pop up there.

Most of Jess's fall has been handled in Spoilers and JSA. (I should know since Miller has had me write her almost as much as he has). It's one of those things where he wanted you to see the start and the finish then get glimpses of the things in between. A mystery about why is it that Jess could not handle the red and gold. It's still an ongoing thing as shown by the latest JSA.

Great work. Love seeing second generation (or version) villains coming back bigger and badder. Awesome job. Like the building of Wally and Linda's relationship. It's good to see Wally finding his feet.

So, I just finished the first arc "First Strike." I gotta tell you man, The Flash isn't a character that I've ever been crazy about. I love a good speedster, but Wally and Barry (especially Barry) have just never done it for me.
You, on the other hand, got me interested. In Barry Allen. I'll send you a trophy. But I need your mailing address. And you'll have to pay shipping and handling.
I'm excited to get caught up, since I know you're going to be using some more Jesse. (Can I get a wat wat for a lady speedster? She's my favorite.)

Hey, I'm glad I made you like Barry Allen. It was something I didn't really do when I took over the title, but I got into him the more I wrote.
But I'm glad you're liking my title despite not really being into The Flash. I really hope my love of the character (and franchise) spills over into my writing.
Anyhow. Issue 4 of Volume 2 is up. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It's kind of a new style for me in terms of serialization that I'm not really sure if I like or not. Anyhow, much of this is just kind of keeping Wally busy until the next big arc that deals with the History of Keystone City.

You need more of the final scene. In fact, most of your issues need it (In Flash and JSA). For a solo title, Flash has been almost 95% exposition/dialogue, and 5% action. Nothing wrong with developing characters but for the most part, Flash has lacked superheroing. With Wally taking up the mantle and being in it to stay, I had hoped for something new in terms of your story telling but it's more of the Island, Max, Blah Blah Barry.
Wally needs to hit something. Then he needs to hit it again. And he needs to hit it thousand times after that. Stop the decompressed storytelling. Get to the adventure. Utilize the Rogues. All I can recall in the span of 15 or so issues is the never ending Barry VS Zoom. And I can't even remember how Barry won in Flashpoint other than sacrificing himself. That's not good.
As great as Wally and Linda are together... I hope you don't spend as much of the issue on them talking as you did with Wally and the island in this one. -- And so it doesn't look like I'm only trying to tear you a new one. The issue itself was good. A fun read though you could have done more with Wally opposed to Walter. The action scene and Rogue I did get was awesome. And Boomerang's takedown was just the kind of random, out of left field sort of ending I love.
Edit: And the Max comparison of the Flashes to other heroes was fantastically done.

I definitely see where Wachter is coming from I've really just been crying out for some world exploration. I dislike the fact that you got rid of the secret identity so quickly the balancing act of hero and the man is a great mechanic that the universe is missing.
You do a lot of things well in the issue exploring the relationship between Flash and the other heroes was awesome. Just so well done for the character.
I do think that you have the tendency to write towards your strengths and try to write around your weaknesses as a writer. You tend to avoid action as you lack confidence in your ability to write epic battles. I think you owe it to yourself to tackle your weaknesses head on in the future.

Well, the identity is just with Linda. The Police won't know, his Aunt Iris still doesn't know and his Rogues don't know. It's pretty much just Linda, Jay, Jessie and most likely the JSA. Wachter and I were actually talking about it and we decided the Linda has been around heroes for a while and she's a trained investigative journalist. To us it didn't make sense that she wouldn't know after a while.
As for action, I'm working on it. I'm building up to it kind of. I'd much rather work on it little by little and develop it rather than just do a whole issue and just have it be bad. But with the Mirror Master scenes last issue and the Captain Boomerang scenes this issue, I'm working at it. Next issue will be a quiet issue with another action scene and then I have an action oriented arc directly after that.
Thank you for all bareing with me!

I liked the issue. Good dialogue as always, really nice explanation of what it means to be the Flash- I'm a sucker for those kind of interpretations. 'The Island' always makes me nostalgic for Lost. Look forward for seeing how Wally deals with Linda knowing- not all heroes need a secret identity from their loved ones. I'll be interested if you do any guardians of Flashpoint limited spin offs. Keep them coming.

I just started reading the first volume, I know, I'm way behind, but I like what I'm reading. It caught me off guard to see Barry as an agent, but it's definitely caught my interests. I can't wait to see how volume one plays out.

It was a good read. I liked the recent one where Max comes to Wally and shows him the prior champions of Flashpoint. I also was kinda let down how quick Digger went down. Was always a Captain Boomerang fan lol. I think Linda would as you posted found out at some point. I just wish we had more build to that aspect. With her doing research and all to discover it.

Ok, so I just finished reading through Vol. 1. I sometimes hate commenting on older issues because there is usually a lot of growth in writers here since those initial attempts, and you and I have had that conversation before, but for the sake of generating dialogue in general I will make a few comments.
Overall, I liked it but I did have some issues. First and foremost, (and this may be ironic as it is a book about a speedster and all), but it all felt a little rushed and too slow paced at the same time. You had two major arcs-the rise of the Flash and the Fall of the Flash in general. You spent 4 issues on Barry becoming the Flash, and it was a good story overall, but a little slow developing. Then we get four issues of the Flashpoint Event and the fall of the Flash, and really aside from a few allusions to events, we see nothing in between. We never really get to see Barry as the Flash. In the final arc, Barry had to fight for screen time with all the other speedsters. And a lot of the scenes which should have been poignant and dramatic fell a little flat because they had no foundation to build on for one reason-we never saw the middle of the story. It was all beginning and end, no middle-and it is the middle that makes or breaks a story because this is where all the connections between the beginning and end of a story are made. The arc of Barry Allen ended up feeling disjointed because of that.
Examples-Barry and Iris are in love-we see them meet in the first arc and see them fully in love as a couple int he second and their "heart-wrenching" goodbye, but it lacks impact because we never saw that spark in the first arc grow into a full blown love of a lifetime, we were just told it did and see the after-effects.
The scene with Capt. Cold suffers the same way. We never get a sense of the villain joining the hero in desperation such a scene should engender because we never saw cold as a villain.
It's hard for the end to have a big payoff if nothing was set up to pay off.
Even a few done in one stories between the rise and fall would have done it. An early adventure showing Flash vs. Cold where cold interrupts the date where Barry was going to propose.
An issue where Jessie becomes his partner where Cold first gathers the Rogues and Jesse saves Barry's ass earning the role as partner.
A wedding of Barry Allen issue where you have the obligatory villain interruption.
A story of an adventure around the time of the birth of one of his children, and then into the final four issues.
It didn't need much more, but it dd need something more.
It won't have the same effect as a post-mortem, but you mentioned in this discussion page the possibility of doing more Barry stories at some point. I would encourage such an endeavor to give the story of Barry a little more breath and depth, because it definitely needed room to breathe more, despite the quality of what was there.
