Figured this was as good a reason as any to start this up.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwfUnkBfdZ4Before we get started discussing the trailer, can we please avoid sh***ing on the DCCU when 1) we have exactly one movie and one TEASER trailer to base our assumptions and 2) different isn't always bad? Now, the trailer. In general, I liked it a lot. It wasn't quite as exciting as the recent Star Wars trailer, but I think it was certainly better than the first SW teaser. Some points I have to make... +Both Batsuits look incredible. Both rank up there for best comic book live action costumes EVER. +The idea of exploring the philosophical possibilities of what a Superman would do to Earth is really interesting. +Alfred is clearly on Superman's, not Bruce's, side as seen with his "turn good men cruel" line. +This is purely speculation, but I believe that the actual film will portray Superman as a man trying to do good, being both worshipped and feared, neither of which he wants. Batman and Luthor, being paranoid s****, will try to stop him. +Batfleck's modulator voice is incredible. I really like his line at the end. It's "dark" sure, but Batman's dark. His whole deal is scaring his enemies, so threatening them should be one of his greatest tools. +Huge inspiration from DKR from the Batsuits to the Bat-rifle (that shoots grapples) to the BvS fight. +Tone's different, but fitting for the universe they're establishing. I'll admit I hope not every movie is this serious, but for BvS I can see it working. -Tone is a bit dreary, especially for Superman, but maybe that isn't accurate in the final cut. Maybe Superman's scenes are lighter. All we have to judge is a teaser trailer.

I think it looks great. The only thing that worries me is the flash. I love the show and Grant so the movieverse version worries me.
BUT THAT AQUAMAN!!!!!!

We're passing on it. Money is already tight and we've had it with that "tone".

They should make the movie version Wally West and say the movie universe is the television universe a decade from now. Problem solved.

But Wally's going to be black, so there would be that issue.

I'd love to see a "Flash of Two Worlds" scenario where we get Grant and Ezra together for an episode, movie, scene, or whatever.

I'd prefer they keep the movie and T.V. versions seperate, mostly because I'd prefer not to be reminded of Man of Steel while watching something I like.

I think this is the only reasonable response to that trailer.

I wanted to like this, I really did. Dark, dreary, bleak, deconstruction, I'm so over all this. What's so wrong with a decently adjusted Batman and a Superman that's okay with his place in the world (and the world with it)? That worked for 50 plus years.

Drake, how do you know Wally is going to be Black?
Also, I wasn't a huge fan of Man of Steel, but will probably watch this - not sure how I feel about the Trailer, but, it is going for a different look than the Marvel films. So we will see.

I kinda like it but I'm not optimistic. I'm behind Affleck but I don't think the screenplay and direction are going to help him. And I'll avoid my thoughts on Lex.
I objectively like DC more than Marvel, but I hate that DC decided they had to go all dark and angsty rather than have some fun like the MCU. This movie should be highlighting how Batman and Superman have different ways of doing things but are ultimately working toward the same goal. Batman is dark and Superman is light. Instead theyre making everyone dark and broody.
Heck the bleed line is probably Batman and Superman having an emo poetry contest. Who can brood better? Batman's probably upset that there's another hero out there harping on his shtick. Lex probably gets involved after seeing Batman's vlog about it on YouTube.

My thoughts on the trailer:
Superman is Jesus. Batman is Judas. Lex Luthor is Satan/the Pharisees. All the idolaters are fans of classic Superman. And the whole movie is Zack Snyder beating every moviegoer over the head with a bible and doing his best impression of Mel Gibson.
The new title for me is The Passion of the Superman.

youtu.be/rfBAqauWxzs?t=3m57sI think Patton Oswalt nails it on the head here (whole thing is worth a listen, but I've tagged it at the relevant point).

You know, it's nice not to feel like a freak. There are a ton of people out there calling out everything from Arrow to BVS on being TOO DAMN DARK. It's not adult, it's just a mindless, depressing fad that can't die soon enough.

Again with the opinion thing, Adrini. I too prefer lighter stuff, but some people like it dark. There's nothing wrong with that (at least as long as they don't go hipster on us and say it's lame to like lighter stuff, or it's adult, or whatever).

Sadly I deal with college students who think all things dark walk on water and exhale gold dust. You suggest otherwise and they look at you like you have three heads cause you don't "get it".
I'm not some 16 year old kid. This dark thing has been a thing for over 20 years now. I remember it when I was in junior high. It's not "new", "adult" or "fresh". It's just a thing, like all the other things. And it does not work with all things. Though it does with some.
When do we move on? I don't mind batman being dark, it's his thing, but color shouldn't be a rarity in super hero stories.
