I wonder...am I a sociopath for liking MoS?
I'm pretty sure only about 1/5 of Metropolis got detroyed (but that's just a wild speculation by me) because when he's chasing Zod, you can see the rest of Metropolis in pretty good condition. I think the deaths were in the thousands range, not the millions. The Superman we saw in MoS was inexperienced, new, unrefined. He made lots and lots of mistakes. I bet in future movies, he'll be the Superman we know and love—the Superman who doesn't kill, the Superman whose actions don't put other people's lives in danger. Making mistakes is the best way to learn in my opinion. Everything that happened to Metropolis will (hopefully) stick with him.

Closer to half, if you look at the southern direction.
Also remember that the ray was pulsating, not static. That causes chaos in foundations, bolts, bars and other key structural components. It's a matter of time before the bulk of the other half falls as well, releasing it's own shiney new batch of all kinds of fun chemicals. Fun, yes?
While I would *love* to have a sups that knows how to smile so long as Didio is involved it just not going to happen. The trend is dark - hell, even Oliver isn't allowed jokes or smiles. At times he's even openly abusive. I'm still shocked that Barry is allowed to be cheerful. Could have sworn there was a law about that.
If not for this site I would have walked away from all of it long ago.

The problem with the idea that Superman will learn from MoS is that the movie itself didn't care about any of the destruction or death that was caused. It just swept it under the rug and wanted you to be so distracted by the fight scene that you didn't realise Supes and Zod had already killed hundreds if not thousands of people during their fight already.

All right. Thanks for telling me that, adrini.
You're right, elec. It was as if the movie said, "Welp... That happened. . . . Oh, wait! Everything's fine now! Woo!" That was the only real problem I had.
As well as this one: I live in Nebraska, and I've seen quite a few tornadoes. They don't consume things, they pull things in from a distance away. I wish they had gone the heart attack route instead for Pa Kent's death. That tornado scene ticked me off.

That tornado scene was terrible, even moreso than the rest of the movie, Among all the problems I see everyone talk about there's also the fact that Clark is forced to watch his father die in front of him knowing that he could do something. The entire point of the heart attack is showing that he can't save everyone, this just shows that his dad is a dumbass.

Saw this article come up on Newsarama, but here's the link to the original. It's definitely worth a read. No wonder DC is having such trouble finding their "universe" in the first place and this really spotlights things they're doing wrong in terms of their approach compared to Marvel. A DC movie is fundamentally different from a Marvel movie, but DC isn't even getting the fundamental MOVIE things right. Who'd have thought it all really comes down to one guy.

Harley is okay all things considered. It could have been Leto Joker bad. And Katana looks great. The rest are very drab and generic. Deadshot's mask is ugly as shit.

I actually liked Leto's joker, and I'm probably going to hate any Halrey outfit that isn't her original one. As for everyone, well they're supposed to be drab and generic, you don't want your vaguely legal squad of criminals to stand out.

Someone on /r/community compared Harley in the picture to Darkest Timeline Britta. It was the first time I saw the photo and I decided right then and there that I was all in.

Saw the new Avengers movie. It's...DC is done. Marvel isn't just better, it's making fun of us.
MOS had massive destruction and death - avengers went out of it's way to save civilians.
The BVS teaser had sups hovering over bats as though he was some kind of god - this had a real like boy scout, the kind of person Superman actually needs to be, in the exact same shot and he even carried through. Ultron is not unlike Zod. It can't be an accident.
And the female characters, masterpeices - every single one of them. What is the DC side going to offer in response? Laurel? They've made even Black Canary a bad joke. It's so embarrassing it's painful.
It's over. They won. Just, we're done.

That's a bit of a dramatic response but, well, I'm more of a Marvel guy anyway. I can't argue with you.
EDIT: As for the Suicide Squad, I think Croc, Katana and Deadshot look sick. Harley and Rick Flagg are okay. The rest are...meh. My three fav's are all comic accurate, so that's great!

I don 't mind the Suicide Squad costumes. Here's one place where the dark look kind of works - though I wouldn't object to the garish super villains in costumes notion either if they had decided to go full authentic. I've come to terms with Nu52 Harley, though I still think that Katana's costume looks dumb (though design aesthetic aside, it is really well represented here). Flag, Deadshot, realistic looking Croc (which I like over his ridiculously mutated form), and Tattooed Man look impressive. I'm not sure who the dread guy on the end is, and I assume the other woman is Poison Ivy? If so that's not bad. Only one I don't exactly love is fat Boomerang. I much prefer the rail thin Silver Age version than the Infinite Crisis era chubby one.
Although, and it might just be the jackets - I just can't shake the notion that I'm staring at the high school "we don't fit in anywhere else, so we made our own club, anime style" group photo for their facebook page from the paintball range. (#fiddlerdidn'tmakeit #bestdayever) But publicity stills aren't exactly intended to be reflective of the movie, so I'm not holding that against it.
Of course, I'm probably the only one seriously disappointed that the "leaked" photo from last week turned out to be a fan, and not a Checkmate Pawn. Now THAT would have gotten me out to see this hands down.

I'm still gonna watch DC's movies anyway, no matter how good/bad they are, because I like DC. Maybe not as much as Marvel, but I still like them. You can't compare them. Yes, they're both superhero comic companies, but I'm talking about their cinematic universes. You can't compare them because they're each going for something different. Marvel wants to deliver fun, uplifting movies. DC wants to deliver gritty, realistic movies.

That's not true. You can compare them. I think you also should respect them both for what they are, but compare them...? It's inherently going to happen. People do it.
Also, while I'm okay with grit and pseudo-realism (emphasis on the pseudo), there needs to be diversity. If every film is exactly like the others, then it'll get boring quickly. Marvel has handled a variety of tones and genres. Simply the fact that they include humor and don't remove the color from their films doesn't make them the same. However, BvS (despite how excited I am) seems very similar to Man of Steel tonally and thematically, and I don't doubt that the other movies will be similar. We'll see though. Maybe they'll surprise me. Maybe Flash will be fun.

Flash is going to be written (and possibly directed) by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, so I'm sure it'll be the most fun out of the DCCU movies. And yeah, I guess it's inevitable that the DCCU is going to be compared to the MCU.

I know I harp on DC's overuse on "dark and gritty," but the truth is that dark and gritty can be done very well (see the new Daredevil), and that attributing DC's lack of success to it is oversimplifying. After the last BvS trailer I know for certain I'm not going to see it in theaters. Suicide Squad I might reserve judgment for. Something as ridiculous as Will Smith as Deadshot gives me the slightest of hopes the movie might have something resembling personality.
If DC had just copied the Marvel formula, I personally think they would have been in a much better state than they are now.

And any Green Arrow movie would likely be just as painful as the show. I'm going to go ahead and hope it never happens.
