And that's a fair enough argument - Not necessarily one I still agree with, but I see where you're coming from with it, and that's all I was trying to do really.
I suppose back to the matter in hand...it's trying to drive up some activity on the site again - and that's really best placed by more people, other than yourself and adrini and Drake providing the content.

Market share since flashpoint is down 47% (I keep track, there's even a thread here), and now there's new information leaked that sales aren't covering costs. It's looking more and more like this new world is hanging on with fingertips. The newest proof is Didio stating (and I'm serious here) that DC will never reboot again. I'm sure. I'm also sure winter won't come again and my neice will never eat her dinner again as well. Unless she gets a cookie first, of course.
Old Dc is already coming back - Ollie has Errol Flynn on his wall again. It's already happening. Maybe some of the stuff they threw out was actually worth something after all.
I believe in good stories - or at least as good as we can make them. We aren't Hemingway. But well thought out stories. Not "see what sticks".

The sales don't take into account digital sales though do they? because from my understanding titles like Batgirl and Black Canary are doing very well in those stakes.
I never said that what they threw out wasn't worth anything, I just said that some of the Nu52 stuff has been rather good. Resurrection Man, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Wonder Woman (Pre-Finches) they're all great comics, and Nu52 gave some guttering properties a chance to reinvent themselves again. It did what all comic lines and all comic publishers do - made some great stories, and some crap stories, and produced a whole load of mediocre ones.
I also believe in good stories, and I am sure that most of the writers out there who get paid to do this don't go for "see what sticks" either.

BC is among the top sellers(I like it myself), and yes it takes into account digital sales. However Batman is doing ...okay? Not great. And Sups is being outsold by Archie, Howard the Duck and some other really stupid title I can't remember. It'll come to me. Marvel market share of cleaning up though, go them.
With the exception of a handful of titles there's nothing they did that couldn't have been done in a soft reboot, and avoided the erasure of 70 years of history. And one of them is Aquaman, which is already going back. ><
The writers? Generally not. But the Poor planning (literally over three days, Not kidding)lead to a certain amount of "see what sticks" being thrown to the writiers. Not blaming them, just the reality they faced. Marvel took over 5 years to plan things out, that's doing it right.
As for the site, so long as it's thought out, makes a certain amount of sense (these are comics, it gets goofy), and the writer in question puts effort into it, I'm good. (We've taken beginners. Cross was, but he's gotten quite good.)

I don't know what sales you're seeing, but Batman is selling loads of comics. It's always in the top five and usually top two. Anyway, I'll respond to the actual point of the thread when I have Internet and a computer in front of me.

I've been reading some conflicting accounts of the market share thing...some say that DC is floundering, and they're normally the sites that hate on Nu52, and other say it is doing OK, which are normally sites that like Nu52, or are reasonably impartial. Frankly, I don't think it matters, whether it is selling really, really well, or really really badly, the fact is...it's around, and likely will be for a good while.
I'm sure this sort of thing happened when Hal replaced Alan, and Harry for Jay. I really doubt that the whole of the Nu52 was planned over three days. Not sure where that information was taken from - (or if an individual title is planned over three days, again, doubt it). I think publishers take chances with things, to see if they stick or the market is ready, but I don't think they apply it to their whole range.
To be honest, we could argue these points back and forth and ultimately, we're going to be at a stalemate, so we might as well, argue to disagree and leave it here.

If you like, but I have publisher sources. Dont really do bias. Do research for living.
I want it to do well. It's just not.

There's already one thread on whether New 52 is successful/not successful or whether it's awesome/terrible and frankly I see no reason to alienate either camp from the site as writers or readers.

Design for less dark site in progress. Once its up folks can give their two cents, and we can go from there.

So, redesigning the site is step one. What's step two?

So, redesigning the site is step one. What's step two? That depends a lot on you guys. Even a reboot of any scale would be pointless without active writers participating, and right now that's something we just don't have. I understand this is an at-will labor of love type thing, but this only works with participation. If I can get caught up on updating my own work, I can start organizing continuity and hopefully making it easier for new writers/readers to catch up.

I'm actively pulling in a few people, or trying. We need to contact old members, see if they'll come back. We'll get through this.

I agree with a lot of what has been said here and I disagree with a lot of what has been said here. I think that one of the biggest obstacles that we face is the Mod/Admin situation (As discussed earlier). I think building a new site or a mirror site that we have full control over would be our best option. Obviously, bringing in new readers and writers should be our focus too. The site seems very much lacking in activity (I'm to blame on that front as much as anyone). For me at least story wise, I think that the Ultimate universe could use an event. I dont know what the event would be but we all need our heroes to unite against a common enemy. Maybe it's an alien invasion that hits multiple cities or maybe it's the 2016 Presidential race, hell, we could have Ra's ninjas attack the super community. (everyone loves ninja attacks) I just think story wise we could use an event. These are just my two cents on a few of the topics being discussed.

An agreed on major event - I like it. Drama, action, lots of chances for crossovers. Sounds like fun. We can plan it.

An event sounds great, but I don't want Knights to be a part of it. The title's in a weird place in that it's the most continuity heavy title on the site, technically (although not literally) crosses over with at least one title every issue, and yet stands entirely on its own. I'd like to keep it that way. Shoe horning an event into the story is the opposite of the approach I want to take. Also, Ra's and the League will not be available any time soon. In other news, I'm incredibly pleasantly surprised to see you've returned, cross! Welcome back!
