There were a few abrupt sections like the last line with Jen and Sand made me think of the bad rep John Stewart gets for the marine thing but other than that, a fine break issue.

Loved it. Great character work. All I can say is every time I read an issue of this I want to go find some Robinson Starmans and read them. That's the frame of mind it puts me in.
The opening and closing scenes with Jack...just about perfect.

A sweet issue. Really liked seeing Jack get to see his father once more. Always great to explore the characters further which these type of issues. So many superheroes, so many daddy issues, good job.

Really enjoyed the issue think seeing Rick would've been a good scene. Keep up the good work.

āIām sure those prophetic dreams he have a hand in his paranoia,ā Dr. McNider spoke up from the fridge where he was filling his glass with more
Just wanted to point that out.

I really liked the father/son spot in the graveyard . I really enjoyed that and how you foreshadowed it. It also has a touch on the whole "Talking with David" issues that Robinson would do in Starman there. So I would like to see it happen every year in a way. Be a nice twist there.
I also like the scene that you did with Courtney at the end .

Caught up. Some good stuff. Yadda yadda proofread yadda yadda...
I like your team building and such. Your characters are good and you have them interact well. I think Dr. Mid-Nite and Phantom Lady are my favorite so far. So cuuuute.
I gotta say, maybe its from reading so many issues of this and Flash back to back and not with time in between, but I'm sick of Jessie's whining. Suck it up! All she ever talks about and thinks about is how she made some mistakes. Somebody call the waaaaaaaaambulance!
Seriously though, I hope she gets over it soon. And lets get some action up in here!

You find Jessie annoying and what her to get over it? Then I have done my job here... haha.
Thanks for the review.
Next arc, which the first part of could surface this this week is going to be the first action oriented arc. Hope you like it!

#9 is up. Sorry that it's so late. These past 3 months have been a little crazy.
But yeah, here is the beginning of the JSA proper for me.

Its probably because of how busy you've been, but this wasn't up to your usual standards. It wasn't bad by any means, but it felt disjointed and didn't flow naturally. At least that's how it felt to me. But it is nice to see the team together and going on a mission. Keep em coming.

I actually was originally going to mention that in my original post, but I agree completely. The first half of the issue was written at the middle of April, then I wrote the Shade scene in May and the rest was finished this week. It's hard to get a flow when the issue is written over two months.
Next issue will definitely be better, at least in that regard.

Ok for me my reaction...DAMN. FINE. ISSUE! (except for the part where Courtney changed genders-Jack sends part of the team to find his (Courtney's) friend Johnny...)
It did start a little slow, but kicked into high gear for me with the appearance of the Thunderbolt and Fate's entrance. Once we had that, well I was all in...

Well, we have another issue up. I don't think it has the same issues as the last one did. It's just a couple of scenes and was written in a very short amount of time.
Hope you all like it, I'm actually really proud of this one.

Just checked out issue #10. It was a solid issue. Lots of action. Not sure how I feel about the twist with Courtney. It's same issue I had with so many Lanterns of 2814 coming from Earth-why so many form earth of all the inhabited worlds in the cosmos, why so many rings on earth?
The other issue I had is it seemed like Mordru stood around doing nothing while the JSA did a lot of talking and strategizing. Also didn't get the chaos vibe form him, big bad, sure, but raw chaos, no. I just thing he would have been more relentless to take them out to get to helm and keeping them from getting organized instead of seeming to pause while they did their thing.
Still liked the issue, but those things stood out for me.

Yeah, you're probably right on Mordru. That's completely fair.

First, at the time of this issue, there is no Violet Lantern Corps so that part should be cut out. The only rings that mention a Corps when choosing a bear are the GL rings sent out by the Guardians themselves.
As for the issue, it was good but had a couple problems. Most notably was a lot of editing errors. Could really have used some proof reading.
I echo mrp's feelings about Mordu. I also felt like the entire team's attitude was way off. Jack brought Courtney into a warzone...because he read the script? His excuse was rather flimsy and we know its just for the big reveal.
I also felt like the team didn't take the events seriously enough. Now this could have been your intent and if it was then it worked, but two of their teammates were captured, possibly dead, and the JSA didn't seem all that concerned or serious. Hell Jack and Phantom Lady took some time to stop and play around with some artifcts rather than search for their possibly dying teammates. It just felt very off.
I don't mean to be harping on you because even with these issues it was still a good issue. I do feel like JSA just hasn't been up to your normal standards like your other titles.

I added a poll for in the new Ultimate JSA: Origins Section. I'd like to see your thoughts there.
Thanks

Ok I voted, so I will explain my votes...
Jack-I know you had a short-lived Starman series in the early days of the site, but it is not archived anywhere and I know you weren't satisfied with the writing, but the back-story from there needs to be out there somewhere to flesh out Jack.
Older JSA teams-especially the era between Vietnam and the Reagan era break up. There were just a few hints given here and there, but there is so much history there that would have shaped our current UDCU, especially how the general public views heroes that it needs to be fleshed out for some proper world-building
Other-3 things here....Alan Scott, Shade, and...the whole book of the Spectre and the Spectre himself. All have been sitting in your claims list and side form Shade's one conversation in Father's Day they have been criminally underused.

In reading Shadowpact 7 then catching up on JSA, I felt a tiny bit of the dread creeping up about Fate. I agree about the team being a tad light hearted and I never really got a sense of danger about the whole thing.
Interested to see what the Helmet does to Mordru given that it doesn't work like New Earth's.
