Issue 2 up. I had hoped to have it up a lot sooner around the actual election next month but life got in the way.
Anyway, I hope you like it. As with my other issue not a lot happens, but it's my attempt at a slow build. There may be some confusing elements to the dream sequence- but it's probably just Hundred talking to himself (probably).
Thanks for all of the reviews for Issue 1, I appreciate the comments.

Best issue yet. Some very nice scenes and some good delving into the character. The dream sequences were a bit overdone, but I find written dream scenes in general to be annoying. Dreams are visual and don't translate well to a non-visual medium unless they're very literal, IMO.
There were some spelling errors and typos that should have been easily caught. But otherwise it was a great issue. Keep em coming.

I agree that dream sequences in that style aren't best suited for this medium, but I thought it was pulled off well enough and not overly long. The spelling errors were noticeable but not all over the place or anything. Overall great issue.

Once more into the breach...Ex Machina #2. I have to say our friend Mr. Hundred is a rare case of a politician I would let out of the box after I got them inside one... Well done issue, but it did feel a little sparse. As others have mentioned, dream sequences are hard to pull off in prose, but I think you did a good job. Several glimpses into things to come in terms of future revelations but obscure enough not to show your hand too soon. Ex Machina is a series I have never gotten around to reading, but after your first two issues I went out and tracked down the first three volumes of the trades, yet I have hesitated cracking them open to read them because I don't want to taint my perceptions and expectations for your series. I am grooving to what you have done so far and looking forward to more. As others have mentioned, it could have used another pass of proofreading, and maybe a little more fleshing out of some of the supporting cast while Mitch was indisposed to give it a little more heft, but I enjoyed what was here. -M

Eh, I was not feeling it as much as the other issues. I still liked it, I just wasn't as wowed as your other issues. The dream sequence was fun. Hundred is a great character. Maybe I just need to reread later. Anyway, what is Hundred's power? 8/10

Issue #3 up and out before Xmas! A lot of talk I know, but hopefully you get a feel for some directions I'm headed. The title isn't very superhero-ish I know but I hope some are enjoying it.
Merry Christmas to all! (or whatever midwinter holiday you celebrate)
I promise to catch up on my reading and reviewing in the New Year. In the mean time I hope you all have a good end of the year, and I want to thank everybody for sticking around and making the board such a great place to be a part of.

It was fine, but kind of boring honestly. I don't mind the lack of super heroics. A political drama set in Metropolis could be interesting. But the drama wasn't really there until the cliffhanger. Nothing bad, besides some proofreading, but nothing really exciting either.
Keep em coming.

I agree with Drifter on this. Although I like the Journal character. Also, I am hoping that you will make Bruno seem more terrifying in future issues. He seems a little too generic at the moment. Others might disagree, but that is my opinion. At least it had a good cliffhanger. 8/10. While a little boring, chracterization was excellent, except Bruno, and the ending was great.

Enjoyed the latest issue is a long burn kind of story so not worried about you fleshing out the characters.
Looking forward to when things go boom though.

I caught up on Ex Machina on Christmas Eve, just didn't get a chance yet to respond yet.
I like it a lot. I think it's interesting to see that you're taking a different kind of approach with the title than finding a way to turn it into a superhero comic. I look forward to future issues definitely. 9/10.

Ok first off, I really like this series so far. There were a few proofing issues this time around but nothing major.
I think you are doing an excellent job of laying some foundations here-character and setting wise. However I have one major gripe with the series so far-not sure how to explain it so I am going to use an analogy...
I like ice cream-I like going to ice cream shops where they offer you samples of different flavors in those tiny little spoons before you decide what you want to dive into and have in your ice cream treat.
Ex Machina is like that ice cream shop-each issue has offered us very tasty little samples of the story/characters/plot/setting/tone etc., but hasn't offered up a big ole serving of the treat to satisfy the hunger that doing so creates. It's like a great big tease so far with nothing there to dive into. I like a slow burn story that leaves you wanting more, but if after a while all you get is the little tastes from the tiny spoons and not a heaping helping, you are eventually left unsatisfied.
I've had enough of tiny little tastes, as a reader I want a full portion to tide me over now. I want all those little tastes to come together into a treat that blows me away and leave me loving ice cream even more...and the thing is, I know from your previous series that you have the writing chops to deliver that...
So that's my gripe. What's here is good, but I want a full portion not the sampler now...

Issue #4 up. Still lots of talking, but with the action kicking in I hope some of you enjoy it.
Thanks to Mezarro for letting me share in his slice of this world. Thanks to everyone who have read and reviewed.
2013 mo-fos! Have a good one!

Was a very good issue. Some awkward wording here and there, couple errors, but not too bad. The action scene was well done. Firefy is an unusual addition to the story, but we'll see how that goes. Keep em coming.

I liked the usage of Firefly, and the dog scene was done very well. Keep em coming.

Re' Ex Machina #4...
Ok things are picking up, we see Pherson make his play and someone else strike at Hundred using Firefly. Still a lot of character work, which is good. We got a bigger taste this time around, but I am still craving a full serving of what you have in store for us with this series.

Jack, fantastic work with this issue. Great work all the way around with the characters and Firefly and Pherson's entries were both well done can't wait to see everything start to tie together.

The plot seems to finally be kicking up. For awhile we had great character development of Hundred but nothing really substantial in terms of plot. This chapter changed all that.
I'd say personally the animal cruelty is a squick factor for me, but that'd be more than a little hypocritical given my most recent chapter and anything else I have to do involving Circe. I like how you're taking pains to tie in the other active story franchises.
Keep up the good work.

I think I feel for this what I've heard about my writing more than once. I think I was lost in the wilds somewhere around Issues 2 + 3 and I'm not quite sure what the hell happened in the past and the Brainiac invasion. As continuity man, I don't like that feeling. 4 Started picking things up in a more straightforward fashion. Well, the end of 3 did that and happy that someone is going to such lengths to make this feel like a "world."
Most of my thoughts are shared by MRP's January reviews.
Edit: Oh yeah, given that Arrow is now out or continuity, it doesn't affect things (at the time of your writing, it did) but President O'Neil's term would have started in 2013. It wasn't a reelection. She just won it. Now it doesn't matter. ;_;

This was a great issue. You definitely got me excited for your title again. Of course, I was never on the verging of giving it up, but I have noted in my reviews for issue 2 and 3 that the title was not exciting me as much. But you have definitely changed things around here. I can't decide which scene I like more, Firefly's or the dog's. Also, I like the further connections between this and Superman. In barely related news, I found out what Hundred's power is. Not as exciting as I thought it was. Plus, are you gonna do the whole "Is he gay or not?" route that the original comics went with for Hundred or will you ignore that part? Anyway, keep it up! 9/10.

Issue 5 up, just in the nick of time. I'm not sure how I feel about it, it's longer than I wanted it to be, but I still didn't get everything I wanted in it. But it's leading where I want it to.
As always, thanks for the reviews!
