Ok the 1st issue of Ultimate Green Arrow is up and ready to read. Its a slight introduction to some of the core members of this . Plus its a whole new launch of Oliver Queen as a character in the Ultimate DCU here.
Several things...
1.) I don't have an editor yet. I plan to post 2 issues a month til Jan. I know Buck is super busy and he's got enough on his plate without me sending him these to edit as well as my Hawkman. So at #7 , I will go to 1 month an issue and have him edit it.
2.) I wanted to lock in things I saw. I know Superman has visited the White House. I just wanted to plant that he would by one of the men suggesting it.
3.) I wanted to lock in a President. You don't see me name Obama , Bush or anyone. I just call him President and Commander in Chief. You can use your imagination .

<_< I'm totally going to beg you for Roy for Flamebird's Titans/Outsiders/Young Justice project during Spoilers: Long Haven Knights (working title). That was an awesome line about him.
It actually reads a bit like Ryan's initial pitch of Detective Comics. I enjoyed it. And it's an unusual beginning to Oliver that I don't think we've ever seen before.
I just hope you go with one of the hooded designs as opposed to the Robin Hood cap.

I enjoyed the new take on Green Arrow quite a bit. Glad we will get a full on origin story for him. And if this is the length you are going for on the first several issues I'll pick up editing duties again.

Fans of a comic book series will know who I am modeling the new Roy Harper after. Yes it will be that obvious. I wanted to do a 180 approach with Oliver in a sense. One where if Hawkman is a free spirit and isn't a cop by any means , then Ollie has to be the one who completely is the other way. He believes in law and government as we see. Its a shift there. You will see what he wears once I get his costume detailed in a future issue.

I don't wanna push all this on you because the next story could be longer in length actually. So I will wait til #7 after Jan. Then send ya the scripts once a month. Origin wise I hate the fucking island one. I haven't read the latest New DCU launch of GA. But I can bet...somehow its gonna mention the island lol.

I agree about the Island origin, and I'm keen to see what you do with this one. Reading it did make me want us to pick an actual president for our ultimate universe. I don't really know where you'll take this character, but I'm interested.

I like the island origin...
But I also really liked this. Like really liked this. I love Green Arrow as the ultimate washed up leftist hippie, but with your Hawkman, you wouldn't have been able to play up that duality. I really do hope you decide to play it up the opposite way. Really looking forward to this.

Was a nice start. Some tense issues. Every time you used sit instead of sat.
I am interested in this take on Green Arrow. He doesn't appear to be a millionaire(unless it's secret money) and being government run will be a nice twist. Look forward to seeing how you have him interact with other heroes.
Keep 'em coming.

Just read issue #1:
I thought it was pretty good. I have to wonder at some of your word choices, like symbolizing 3 on his hand. Are you a native english speaker?
Other than that I liked it. I love the idea that project arrow is a government operation to make a superhero who can get close to the super hero community and find out if they are going to be dangerous to the government. It almost feels like a team-up book setup. I'd love to see Oliver popping up in other hero books and trying to get close to people. Let me know after issue 1 of Aquaman comes out if you'd like to write a crossover like that with me sometime.

Also about him doing a symbol to go on "3" it was them outside the door , ready to kick it in with Eddie beside him. That was more Ollie was trying to be silent and not alert anyone inside.

I like the idea a lot- the government spy on the superhero community. Though I'm not sure how much of a superhero community there is right now, given this universe is only starting!
And hopefully future issues will reveal more of Queen himself- right now the issue focused more on the "setup" side, but this is a first issue, so that's to be expected.

Issue #2 is up now. We see things start to shape up. I drop a special potential plot point for later as well. Hope everyone likes it . Also remember , I'm doing 2 a month til I get caught up and after Jan. hand this to Buck to edit.

It's good stuff. Can't wait to see a JLA arc where the league finds out about his original intentions.

Liked it. Good dialogue and the character is proceeding nicely. Also you are creating someone who shows a lot of potential for integration with other titles, (I can see some hints already) which is great. If you need an editor at all, I'd be happy to put myself forth for this title- nothing major, but a lot of gaps before commas and periods.

Wow, this is gonna be a very different Ollie from the one I know and love. But I gotta say, I'm intrigued by the direction you're going. Keep up the good work man!
